First album I bought was Metallica's Kill 'em All on a cassette tape, old school metal right there..
first album i actually bought would be calfornication by red hot chilli peppers when i was 10. Oldest album that i bought than i still listen to occaisonally would be peace sells by megadeth.
I think the first album was either Humble Pie Smoking or Deep Purple Woman from Tokyo. A very long time ago to remember. I do not remember much from that era for some reason.
I had mostly 8 track tapes back then, lots of them, Hendrix, Cream, Led Zep, BOC, etc, for my future car. Albums were pretty useless once the 8 track came out. .

8 tracks were great for cars (until the cassette eventually rolled around), but I'd take vinyl any day for audio fidelity. Also 8 tracks were irritating because it was difficult to get it right to the track you wanted to play.
