Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. And connect the LAN ports of the two PC together. If both PCs are set to obtain their IP address by DHCP then they should eventually negotiate a link local IP address and be able to see each other.
If you have an ADSL modem/router with a 4-port switch in the back then all you need is two ordinary network cables to plug the PCs into the router and you'll have your LAN.

Yes. More than enough for playing UT on the LAN.
You don't have to buy that exact model - it was just an example of a cheap switch. You could have a look in the local computer shops (but not PC World or the like) to get something similar.
If there are only two PCs then the cable will suffice.
remember you need a crossover to directly connect 2 pcs. if you have a swith it usually doesnt matter what cable you have as it sets it up automatically.
btw you can get a gigabit switch for under 30€ nowadays. can come in handy if you push big files over the lan often.

That should do the job for 2 PCs. Only rated to 10/100 but that will be massively more than sufficient for game playing or transferring the odd file.
Your motherboard is capable of gigabit ethernet. Yes, it's faster than 100Mbit but 100Mbit is plenty for what you need (and all that you will get if your friend's laptop only does 10/100).
