I know this is kind of early to ask but, in talking about water.
I was blown away by how real the water in the HalfLife2 engine looked

Doses anyone know if Epic will match this or beat it?
The water in UT2004 looked much better then in the original UT but you could only use it in small places becouse it was such a huge hit on the GPU.

What is the static with water in UT2007?

Good question. I also hope they do volumetric fog better too. Those would add a lot of depth to the game.

In that UEngine 3 demo there was a shot where you could see the sun reflecting off the ocean in the background; I think that's a good sign of things to come. :D

We can actually see the water (maybe?) in the PS3 demo from E32005. It's in the skymap, but it's reflective as hell and in fluid motion.

HL2 water only looks good from on top. You can bet UE3's water will look better.

They will probably use Pixel Shader V3 on the water in UT2007. I hope they add the options like they did in HL2 to run the game in different Dx modes for cards that may not be the "latest".

The HL2 water was "pretty" good, except it did not move, no waves, no splash when you jump in, the water isn't displaced when you enter it even though HL2 has a buyiancie (forgot spelling) simulation. In other words, when you jump in the water you see your character and whatever else is in the water bob up and down and such but the water stays still. I KNOW UT2007 water will be better.

water in the original UT looked better than 2kx because they used real time procedurally animated water textures which looked brilliant.......
The water in UT2007 will probably be ridiculously good though, hopefully it refracts properly and is animated.
Breaking waves and stormy 3d seas would nice too!
