DO NOT buy this game! Not until Maxis puts out a patch for it. I bought it this morning and the game immediately crashes to the desktop at the start of the game. I tried everything to fix it to no avail. Then I go to their BBS and see that many, many more people are having similar problems. Do NOT buy the Sims.

odd, not like Maxis to push a game out the door that isn't finished. ah well, look at Ultima 9. the game was in development for 4-5 years, and that has many, many bugs, but it's still a quality game. im sure its the same with The Sims. has some bugs, but is a quality game.

I'll probably buy The Sims anyway, because I've never yet had a problem with a game not running on my machine. My only worry is, as is traditional with Sim games, how many hours will this game eat? /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif

how about Streets of SIM City? that was pretty boring that game... arg. Hey Taskmaster, like i said earlier about Ultima 9, how it has bugs ans stuff, well, did you experience any of those nasty bugs? Like organizing items, loading saved games and such? and what video card u use? v3 right? cos U9 has problems with anything but a v3 (without patches that is).

Okay I just f*cking figured it out! Thank god! If you had Intervideo DVD software on your computer, the Sims crashes because of some incompatibilties they have with each other's audio. SO they had a DVD patch, naturally I d/l'ed it and whaddya know it fails, it doesnt work, it wont install. It's a .bat file, and when you double click it automatically tries to find the Intervideo DVD software in your C:/program files directory! WTF x 100000000000! Maybe some people dont have it installed in their C: drive. Well I finally NOTICED this (I'm slow). I supposed I could have just moved the DVD software to the C: drive but jsut for the hell of it I opened it in notepad and it let me change the drive it looks for in there, cool. w00t!
