hehehe.... the last time I used my Sidewinder Pro for a FPS was with Quake just to handicap myself. Of course, nobody believed that I had handicapped myself cause I knew the maps so well, I never had to run forward *anywhere* when I was being chased *grin* (of course I was switching from pure keyboard, and they really didn't like me playing on that... something about being able to circle-strafe on the keyboard *cackle*)
Suggestions for using the stick as a control device:
Set the rotational control to strafe left / right
Throttle obviously to move forward / back (it takes a bit of practice to get used to the idea of centering the throttle to stop movement)
Primary fire on trigger, secondary on button 4 (bottom side thumb)
hat left: previous weapon, hat right: next weapon
hat up: best weapon
button 3 (top side thumb) translocator (learn it love it, with this combo [4 and 3] you can easly switch to trans, trans and switch to last used weapon with a slide of the thumb /~unreal/ubb/html/smile.gif )
Map your most used communication to the top thumb button (eg if your a CTF fan, you might like to use something like Incoming or I'm in position or something)
the base buttons and hat down are still free, I would probably map more communications / taunts onto those buttons
I hope this helps some.
BTW, once you've mapped a couple of the buttons you can always bring up the console and type preferences to get to the advanced setup and raw bindings
