voodoo3 tweak help?!?!?!?!?!?

i'm trying to tweak my voodoo3 3000 according to the guide on www.3dspotlight.net. the problem is...
whenever i make the changes (desktop to open gl) i click apply, OK. when i return to the 3dfx tweak menu, the default configs have been restored! am i forgetting something that the guide doesn't mention? can someone help me? and by the way, laymans terms would be greatly appreciated! thank you in advance...
