Voice Comm software

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

I personally prefer TeamSpeak, mainly because it's better quality audio than RW and has Linux support. Last I saw, Ventrilo didn't, although the quality was very good.

I don't quite follow what you mean by enabling it for SG servers. If you host a public voice server, how will you restrict other people from using it for anything?

About hte quality ventrilo use GSM, DSP TrueSpeech or L&H all with several bitrate. So quality is a matter of configuration.
Linux client is planned for ventrilo.
For Infiltration I have a Ventrilo server hosted @ home:
server: darkbls.no-ip.com
pass: infiltration

So when I set up the software, I assume I will need two channels, one for each team. How does the player know which channel to get into? There is no mod or mutator out there that automatically switches channels based on team membership, right?

Has anyone made, or can it be made, a mutator that automatically enters the key command to put the player in the correct channel at the beginning of each round? That way if the player moves to another team he/she is always in the correct team channel?

If it were possible, I would do it in a heartbeat. But to launch and control an external program, you're gonna need some dll ... and that's not going to be downloaded, nor cross platform compatable :(

AFAIK it is possible with TeamSpeak2

The technique is the following:
The TS Server has some kind of a webinterface/protocoll with which it can be remotely controlled.
Now the gameserver has to connect to the TS server and send the right commands to the server to put the players into their channels.

Yes, that is correct. There is a SDK that comes with the Client version of TS.

I zipped up the TS SDK and have attached it here. Not that I know what to do with it

Well, whatever Odie knows about it, I bet I know a little bit less. :)

Is there anyone out there who would like to take a shot at making this work? I would be your best friend...unless you think that is a bad thing in which case I would pretend I did not know you. :)
