Bad luck.

At least you can't die from a virus infection of yer pc ;)

Most nasty viruses seem to travel via mail and exploit Outlook Express. Dunno why ppl still use this piece of crap. I had 3-4 viruses on my PCs, never a serious threat though.

Uh, this might sound like a silly question, but how do you know if you have a virus or not if you don't have a program to point one out? You could have a half-dozen viruses and not even know it.

I've been online for about 6 years now. I've never had anti-virus software and only got my first virus a few months ago. I knew something was wrong when my internet connection was constantly sending data even when my comp was seemingly doing nothing. I downloaded an evaluation copy of Mcafee to locate the virus, then went to Norton for the free fix. :D STILL no anti-virus crapware on my machine. Don't need it.

My point is you can have a virus and not even know it. There are many types of viruses, and not all show themselves right away and are destructive enough to cause a major problem. I had a few viruses that Norton caught and when I read up on them I found they use your system to send out information to others. I don’t know about you, but I don’t need any Internet slow-downs just because someone is borrowing my PC and using some of my bandwidth. Other viruses don’t show themselves right away: some trigger on certain dates, some when you open an application, and some slowly work away messing your PC up a little at a time until it’s so messed up you have to do major work to repair things. My wife had a Chernobyl virus that was on her PC before she had anti-virus. It activated on the 26th of the month, when the Chernobyl accident occurred, and it slowly messed stuff up. It finally got to the point where she couldn’t do anything. I had to format to get rid of it.

OMG, YOU WERE RIGHT ! i had one file infected by this worm: w32.Sircam.Worm@mm. it infected a file that was put there by someone else. Which was totally undestructive, though it could've been dormant.

Still that's pretty good, i mean 3 years with no anti-virus software installed and only one undestructive worm.

Guess im lucky
