here ya go. a guide:

if you have a voodoo2, voodoo1, tnt or anything lower, upgrade now to a voodoo5 6000. (yes, a voodoo chip. screw that geforce 256)

if you have a vodoo3 or tnt2 or tnt2 ultra, g400 or g400 max, hold off until until voodoo6 (yes, a voodoo chip. screw that geforce 256)

why a voodoo? because of the brand name 3DFX, and you get every single API for vidoecards. glide, d3d and opengl to play your games fast.

Man, you got ripped. You can get a PIII-600 for $509 (local store price). $600 for a video card that doesn't feature AGP texturing and can't even take advantage of it's 128MB as a whole is just a waste of cash.

...yeah, I've got a 34" monitor, actually it's just two 17" monitors side-by-side...

Ya I feel the same way The Voodoo 3 sucks Bad enough why Bring another Hunk Of crap Out when they still havent Fixed the First One Yet..
all My friends Have the voodoo3's And Theres Not One that Is Happy with it The all say the same thing Paid Way to much For somthing that dosent work right all the time..
they say When it does work it works Good But the Point here Is When it works..
Its bad enough when They Bring a 3dfx card Out to Play these games and you have to download Patches after patches To get the dam Games To work..
And then depending On what kinda Dvd you have You cant use it anymore Because Of the voodoo3 you have to email 3dfx and get them to send you Windvd just to use your own dvd player Whats up with that If they new It was going to do this In the First Place Why Make people wait for them to send ya the stuff ya Need..They Knew Before the voodoo3 ever went Out that it wouldnt work with some dvd players and they still sent It out..
and then after everybody Buys One for $300 ""OHHHHH did we forget to tell you they Wont Work with your Brand New Dvd player....""
I My self have a voodoo2 and Its great But I would never ever trade my V2 for a V3 That would just Be stupid..
I just Feel Sorry For the people that went Out and bought this Thing Because of the hype
All my friends Have and all of them are Unhappy with what they Figure This card should have Been the Voodoo2 are Great so they thought HEY THE V3 will be to Only to be took in the end..
So if your Smart People Dont Buy 3dfx cards Until you Know what they are Like ...

Heh, friend of mine got pissed at his Voodoo3 because it stopped working in anything over 640×480 and he got a Creative GeForce. He says he can tell a big difference in visual quality. Having a Voodoo2 is cool, but after Voodoo2 was when 3dfx stopped making good products. Now they've fallen behind and become so desperate as to release a $600 product that only spoiled children and ignorant adults will buy because some computer hardware dealer is going to swindle them into paying that much.

I know that my TNT doesn't run Unreal at break-neck speeds, but it sure does look good. 40FPS is decent and Unreal Tournament really has great speed though I don't play it enough to say an average frame rate.

I wouldn't pay $600 for a video card unless it was going to render polygons to the quality of Toy Story & Antz and even then I'd need to shell out cash for emf shields.

I got a TNT2 with 32MB ram (150MHz) for $100 US at Price Club... its caled Cougar by MaxiGamer Guillemot... trying it tonight..everything Unreal/UT seems to work fine with it.

It has no DVD player, and it uses a 64 bit bus instead of 128 bit bus, like the Viper770...but it's a hell of a lot cheaper too.

1, im happy with my v3 3000. it always works correctly.
2, ive only downloaded patches once, and it only took 10 mins
3, i didn't pay no 300 bucks for it, more like 150.
4, if you friends are having trouble with them, then they don't know how to operate it (did they tweak it?)

nothing wrong with with voodoo3.

It is very hard to argue with a _minimum_ fillrate of 1.32 Gigapixels/second.

I will own a V5-6000 when it comes out. I will play my GLide games in all their glory. I will own a video card that requires an external 100 watt power supply!
