now that the beta testing is happening i was wondering if it was possible if the beta testers and the monkeys could show a vid of the actual game in action. Kinda like what xaero did with xmp and xmp cantina.
Then we could see the game in action and is our hunger satisfied for a couple of weeks.

I believe toward the end of beta, I'm sure there will be some show-off video.

Currently, there is a Non-Disclosure agreement. Leaking information, screenies, videos, info, etc would be a violation and cause the mod to be dropped. :(

    according to FMI, that is.

hmm... i think that there is nothing stopping you xaero from making the video while in beta, yes, but you can't release it until after the beta is over ;), but of corse that is if you are using the machina engine in unreal.

Yeah, they'd ask GB since he's probably the only remaining XMPer on 56k :p

Hey, leave us 56kers alone. Man I wish my poor dialup would hit that 56k mark. I played more XMP thank UT cause it ran better on my dialup, heh.

That's almost impossible for me to believe. XMP ran like duke on a dial-up.

UT ran even worse. I played through most of the U2XMP beta on a dialup.

OMG I DUNNO BUT I remember UT2k3 and particularly UT2k4 being absolutely horiffic online with a 56k.

2k3/2k4 makes lot of use of the whole NetSpeed vs. Replicated data ratio -- lower netspeed = less data transferred. And once you get low enough, into the dialup range, you start losing important things like projectiles, other players, and game objects.

XMP never really made any such concession -- it's all forced through. So while it probably felt more laggy, it was still completely playable because you could see and do everything you had to.

Though now that I think about it, I'm wondering why I never actually tried using a higher netspeed in 2k4. I guess XMP's slower paced gameplay makes the lag more tolerable.

There are actually some pretty cheap deals going on. Just avoid the download limits, that would really suck for gaming.
