I could write an entire essay on why HoN will be a successful multiplayer game and why UT3 wasn't. HoN has basically succeeded in creating what I see as a "next gen multiplayer system" that has all the features required by multiplayer games to actually be successful.
For example some of UT3's fundamental shortcomings as a multiplayer game:
UT3 has team orientated game types, yet there's no lobby system to support this?
The maps are made for specific player counts with equal number of players, currently you need a miracle to play them as they are meant to be played. No one plays these gametypes simply because UT3 doesn't provides the tools to do so.
For one of the console versions EPIC/Midway didn't wanna host a duel server. Why dedicate a server to 2-4 players when you can throw up another deathmatch server to cater for about 16?
HoN actually have the solution to this. One server gives power to about 16 people to create their own games on the server itself requiring no special routers/settings/portwarding.
In UT3 if that could be done for dueling? That would mean one server would be able to cater for 32 duelers at one time.
That would also give power to the average user to challenge each others in realtime instead of having to book a spot on a server for a certain time.
As for the interface itself, it's a no brainer which game has the better design and features.

I'll post screenies of the UT3 interface later...
