And i don't think you can convert the Ut99 skins to 2003/4

And anyway , why you would do so? The skins in ut99 don't fit with ut2k3/4 models.

UPaint can only save the files in Unreal Paint Project (upt) Format for using with UEdit. I only use the prog for checking out the looks of the char and for importing textures containing alpha channels, that makes things really easier :)

happy skinning

I believe UPaint has an option for exporting the skin. I don't have UPaint loaded up here so I can't tell you exactly where it is, but you might try under File somewhere. I know it's there somewhere ;). Importing into UnrealEd requires it to be in a .upt file from UPaint (I think) so see if you can find a way to export to that format.

Yap, it does it. I don't remember how the points are exactly named, but when you export a single texture, it exports it as upt-file in the upaint character's directory, from which they can be imported via UEdit.
When you choose to export the char to UT, it generates the texture and upl-file but I personally don't like the 2nd option. :)

That's what it was... the second option. I have a white-textured model in my UT'04 roster now because I had done that option, and since I have soooo many models in there I'm too lazy to sort through all the upl files to get rid of it ;). It's not such a great option for skinners... much better for those who've made their own models, methinks.

You are right, it is a tool for quick viewing your char, to see how it looks. Unfortunately some parts are not displayed properly (e.g. a texture placed in shoulder area), but it still was a good idea including a tool like this. It helps n00bs (like me *lol*) making first steps in skinning :)
Hopefully it will gain more features and be much more powerfull in the future.
