UT2k4 Quake Port Mod.

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

UT2k4 Quake Port Mod.

I loved Quake I, you loved Quake I, we all loved Quake I!

But it doesn’t work with Windows XP unless you poke it a lot with a large stick, and its not that pretty anymore.

So I propose taking Quake I and recreating it in UT 2k4. I’m talking maps, weps and monsters creating a liner quake game along cop multiplayer with DM and CTF games available.

This is the MAKE QUAKE PURRDY!! Mod

Currently I am looking for a monster modeller, skinner and a one coder possibly two … Mapper will be increasingly important as soon as we have the weapons and monsters down.

Any interest would be greatly appreciated.

Sorry to burst your bubble, but

http://tenebrae.sourceforge.net/

"Tenebrae is a modification of the quake source that adds stencil shadows and per pixel lights to quake. Stencil shadows allow for realistic shadow effects on every object in the game world. Per pixel lighting allows you to have fine surface details correctly lit. These are essentially the same algorithms as used by the new Doom game."

Tenebrae's a mixed bag though. It may look good, but the amazing lighting is hampered by the age-old map design and the low-poly monsters. Plus it runs like absolute crap on most machines - you'll be lucky to get more than 20fps with most of the settings maxed out.

It made my machine try to do a back flip .... my machine lacks natural Dexterity ... it failed, got stropy and crashed.

By the end of today I should have a quick mock up of the first level for comparison with Tenebrae

A quake 1 conversion sounds kewl, dont just remake stuff, try and Advance the look of the monsters etc.

And mappers you will need straight away, the coder will sometimes need testing maps made, and also maps are not an overnight job.
