UT2004 Installation problems on Win98...

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

I'm trying to get UT2004 installed on my brother's computer (running Windows 98, 512 MB RAM, 1.7 GHz Celeron, Radeon 9600 SE, DirectX 9.0b, and I think Catalyst 4.3 but I can't remember), but it keeps giving us this error message:

Video: None

Setup: Unknown disposition

History: USetupDefinition::Init <- WFilerWizard::WFilerWizard <- Setup

Anyone have any idea what the problem is? Strangely enough, we get this same error trying to uninstall the UT2004 demo from his computer. There's more to the error message, but I don't remember at the moment.

No idea. I'm running the game on win98SE and have had no problems.

Are you sure the PC is virus/ad/spy/trojan free?
Did you try defragging & using regclean?
If you've got AV software, was it disabled when installing drivers & ut2k4 (lots of disclaimers nowadays that direct users to disable AV software for installs as it might botch the install).

Make sure you have good installs of related drivers.

If all else fails, maybe you need a reinstall of win98.
