Do these all work in either of these operating systems? My old desktop computer where all are still installed is getting old (ok, older, in its 10th year) and was just wondering if I can still keep playing when it goes. Thank you.

So, the one file is for Win7/Win8 systems and the other is for Win10 systems?

Also, UT2004 and UT3 work with Win8 and Win10 no problem? Thank you.

To run older games in newer Windows you will need to install the full DirectX 9 distro from the Microsoft site.
Do not install them in the main programs folder. Make a Games folder in the root of your partition.

You don't need to add any files to your game folders, but you may want to update the video and audio renderers for UT99.
These are best downloaded from the authors sites where you will find the documentation and help.
OldUnreal is the home of the newest renderers and the only ones being updated.

For UT2004 there is a 64bit version of the final patch. This will also add a DX9 renderer.

You can find the files in the Beyond Unreal Liandri Archives

May we have not the same Windows 10 like mine It is coming with full files d3dx?
Tape d3dx9 in search at C:\sys32.

There is direcx9 "d3dx9" for windows

and

D3D9Drv for system folder UT
In my build you have nothing to do ; the game start directly under OpenGL but you can select D3D9 it is in place and set correctly.
If you don't use my build you must download D3D9 and create-set it in UnrealTournament.ini. http://unrealtournament.99.free.fr/forum/viewtopic.php?f=10&t=213

Run the DX9 installer on the system you want to play on. It will install the missing DirectX files in the system.
Now all old games and software that use DX7, 8 and 9 should play much better (you can also opt for the newer DX10, 11 or GL renderers in many UE1 games)
The original UT99 video renderer is for DX7, and the original OpenGL renderer is buggy and not finished.
The original UT200x renderer is for DX8. The only update is the x64 patch for 2004 with the DX9 renderer.

Ideally if you use an nVidia you should see the best performance with OpenGL, and if you use ATI or intel you should see the best performance with DirectX

Using DirectX9 and above will allow you to use shader mods such as ENB and Reshader.
There are similar tools for OpenGL, but not as well developed.

UT will be OpenGL as my Win8.1 laptop is Nvidia just like my desktop. UT2004 looks like it's DirectX, so I'll keep it that. UT3 probably will install fine without problems on my Win8.1 laptop. I'll be downloading all the files I need over the next month or so, so I'm ready if anything happens. I also need to backup all the game files in a couple places (yes, I'm paranoid about computer files). Thank you all for your help so far.:DD

I have a similar problem.I installed all the Unreal based games in the Anthology. Not happy with the UT99 GOTY version and is there a way I can uninstall it so I can install the UT99 GOTYE that I have which comes on two black and white cds, install them and reinstall the mods, models as the Anthology version is bugged and won't load all of the custom models I have installed.

I used the registry entries on my badly messed up pc to get the file icon, umod installer to work in win 7 pro 64-bit and patch it to 436,etc...I plan to re-add the entries to the ut.ini file which should do the trick and also allow all of my custom characters to load and mods...

Is it possible to move the ut2004 folder from the anthology folder and move it to the root of the hdd like where the original is installed to(C:\UT2004) and just edit the registry entries to direct to the right folder. Is there anything else I have to do so the Anthology setup doesn't say I have UT and UT2004 installed through it?

Thanks.

Never used the anthology versions but, you can put the games anywhere you like and they will run.
Change the registry to point at the new location and the UMOD installs will work fine.
(There are tools to do this)

Whichever version of UT99 you use you may want to consider updating it with the new v469 patch from OldUnreal

@dr.flay Did the re-install and it works fine except various character models aren't loading at all like some of the UT2k4 ones like Mr Crow and a few others from the pack,Alcor's Darth Vader as they aren't showing up in the character selection window. Also increased the cachesizemegs to 256 and the UT2k4 models that are loading were unsquished but their faces are still messed up ie. lots of what appears to be gaps in between the faces of the face mesh.

Even the PS2 characters won't load at all in the game??? Confusing at the best.Is there a limit on how many characters can be installed or some kind of bug?Nothing in the log file says why the characters are not loading,etc.... either the Darth Vader or Emperor voice pack doesn't play??

Thanks.

[edit] the gaps in the face mesh is just a glitch as when I click on the face button to see the face it is normal.

Seems I hadn't installed the modmenuextention which fixes the mods and characters list which now loads all of them. I did notice on some of the UT2k4 character ports that the right side of the face is squished in the character preview window.

I'm a little late, but UT is best installed (any version) (save old install on another partition or whatever first), then copy and paste all files needed (maps, etc). It's a long process, but it works and you don't have to worry about umods and exe installs of extra content. As you should know by now, some maps share extra files of the same name and that can be a pain, but you can usually figure that out to get most maps with same extra files to run. Of course, you should already know the correct extra files if you copy and paste and it should run like your old one. Check that you have same INI file settings also. My WinXP computer is in its 14th year of running, so I'm OK for now. All UT versions are still installed on it.:) Once it dies, I could be f-ed, but I'll try the latest Win version and see what happens.
