Fun games last night. I took a few screen shots. I missed 1 or 2. Things went horribly wrong for me twice vs osk and I didn't want to record that moment in a single image LOL

I thought I had a demo recording of all of those matches last night (supposed to have them of every game played) and wanted to make a movie or two especially of K-Lined which I thought was a fantastic match. NOOOPE. I open the K_LINED file with the timestamp we played and what do I find? OSK vs RIP, for 30 seconds.

I'll look through a few others later. I've been meaning to convert some of the matches I've played/watched over the last few weeks to video. They're entertaining.

Using demo manager to record demos of games. I converted that to a video by capturing the screen but I did it remotely from work and forgot I left it in a small window. Still ended up with a 14GB file that I had to shrink down. All too time consuming for one video (at work). Next time it'll be better :p

Also no problem on the first cap. That game clearly took me a few minutes to get in a groove but once I did it was a blast.

I'll look into OBS, I hadn't thought of something like that as I had originally planned to make some sort of "film" out of the video - a little bit of play from both players but that requires time. 15 years ago I would probably spend a few days on these. Now if I have the time to be playing a demo I probably have time to play and I'd rather play LOL.

Maest and I were throwing the idea around about recording videos and archiving them to either YouTube or Twitch. I'd really wish more people would play around the same time as it would make videos much more entertaining (5v5). I too would like to create a film of tricks shots etc. For now it would be what we could muster from EO and maybe some stuff from the Combo Instagib server. That server is very fun!

I've got 108 demo files from the last month. Most from us playing EO. A few from insta/combogib servers. Assuming all work, most are done in spectator mode so POV from all players can be used. Unfortunately Demo Manager isn't 100% reliable all of the time so I've missed quite a few games (and some good ones). I tried another one as well as xConsole but Demo Manager seems to work best. I have it set to auto because I would forget a lot.

I assume combogib existed way back when but I never discovered it until a few weeks ago. I find it lots of fun. Took me a dozen or so matches to realize they also had the grappling hook on there as well. I was trying to figure out how people were flying through the air. Without lowgrav boosting isn't an option :lol:

Remember the days where we had multiple servers going all with people on them? Almost every match was a 5v5 or 6v6. MTV played music videos, too.

I looked and found there is a mod or two that does auto demorec serverside. Not sure if UT can do it on its own (without being told to each match).

MODOSUtils is one that does this along with a few other options. Not sure if it will cooperate with EO. Rip, here is a link if you're willing to check it out. MODOSUtilsv30

MODOS Utils are server actors that was originaly created by me for
my UT server:
TeamBalancer - actor that balance teams when any user writes 
               "MUTATE BALACETEAMS" in console.
AutoRecorder - actor for automatic serverside demo recording.
MODOS ScoreBoard - changes ScoreBoard to show more info.
SplashLogo - Allows you to display texture (logo) at begin play.
             If you don't know how to create UT texture package
             with logo see LogoHowto.txt.
             It will NOT show logo on servers with UTPureRC5b, 
             but should work with UTPureRC5b2 and later.

Installation is easy, just place the MODOSUtilsV30.u file in your
system directory and start editing the server .ini file.

Add the following lines to the [Engine.GameEngine] section:

If you use MODOS ScoreBoard or SplashLogo you must include

(replace logopackage with name of your texture package)

Now the AutoRecorder configuration, add the following section to the
same server .ini:

Detailed description of configuration.

AutoRecorder configuration:
- bAutoActivate : If set to True then auto demorecording will start
                  at the begining of every map, otherwise it will
                  record demo when user writes "MUTATE SERVERDEMO"
                  in console.
- Password : If you allow users to start demorecording you can set
             password, so only users that have password can start
             recording. I you leave this empty password is not
             required for start recording. Syntax for recording if
             password is set is "MUTATE SERVERDEMO PASSWORD".
             Password is case sensitive.
- DemosDir : Directory where to place demos (with trailing slash and without spaces).
- DemoNameFormat : Pattern for demo name. Following flags are
                   replaced:
                   %L - Level Name
                   %M - Month
                   %D - Day
                   %Y - Year
                   %H - Hour
                   %I - Minute
                   %S - Seconds
                   %N - ServerName

MODOS ScoreBoard configuration:
- ShowClickBoard : If you want to see green flag at playername
                   in tournament mode when player is ready set
                   this to True. If you are using UTPure and want
                   ClickBoard I recommend to set ClickBoard in UTPure
                   to False and in MODOS ScoreBoard to True.
- ShowBonusInfo : 0 = Nothing, 1 = NetSpeed, 2 = Efficiency.
                  This work only if 16 or less players are on server
                  and resolution of player is 800x600 or more.
                  In DeathMatch and LMS can't be showed both PL and
                  BonusInfo, so if you set this to 1 or more then only 
                  BonusInfo is showed in DM and LMS.

SplashLogo configuration:
- LogoTexture : Package and texture name.
- LogoDrawTime : How long is logo showed in seconds.
- CaptionLineOne   : Text
  CaptionLineTwo   : that will be
  CaptionLineThree : displayed
  CaptionLineFour  : under logo.

I watched sparkys video in the car while driving to Seattle last night. Pretty cool. Could not have done that 10 years ago.
