UT Deathmatch Bots

When I started UT I thought to myself what a good DM player i am against other human players so i picked one of the hardest difficulty levels.

Well I had no problem getting through the assualt, CTF , and Domination modes but the deathmatch is a different story..i'm stuck!..I'm near the end of it only a few more levels in deathmatch but I'm going nowhere fast..I'll have the game of my life but I still lose by 2 or 3. These guys have ungodly aim and accuracy and they don't make a single mistake.

So my question is..Is it possible to change the difficulty level once the tournament has already started..maybe a console command or something? - thanks

This is actually a good question though. I think you can change it in the User.ini.

And no you can't change that with the user.ini. Select the difficulty and suck it up.

Actually you can. Under User.ini there is section [UTMenu.SlotWindow] and after that comes row of numbers that ends with your player's name. First number in that row defines difficulty level.
For example mine reads 7\0\6\15\6.... so number 7 means Godlike bots and if you change it to 1 then bot level will be novice.

Ok, I know that Xan is kinda special bot but hey... an Average Xan is tougher than a godlike-level stock bot (except certain cheater bots like loque). So is there a special engine for Xan or does Xan just have the normal bot parameters carefully adjusted to make him so hard to beat?

uses weapons rebound he can't see you and you can kill him

Xan has Adjust Difficulty On. Kill him and he becomes stronger. Get killed and he becomes weaker.

Get always the Shield Belt before him and use the Flak Cannon to kill him while escaping (he's extremely dumb in the corridor with the Shield Belt). Xan is extremely easy.

Xan's skill level is a bit mystery for me.. At least on godlike difficulity after I've killed him couple of times, hes behaviour become interesting. Couple of occasions Xan just walked past me until I did engage, on other occasions he randomly started shooting even if player wasn't in his sight.

I could beat it with a 13 year ban? ...

Oh the old buckethead Xan. I can't remember when was the last time I fought that bot on hyperblast. Xan had the greatest gibs though. Would've been more fun if more bots gibbed like that.
The default models were really boring.
