UT brightness/vid card bugs with NT4 (service pack

My system:
NT4 (service pack 5), Diamond TNT2u (2.08 reference drivers), Pure3d 2 12meg (newest pure3d nt drivers), dual p3 500, 384 megs of ram, sblive platinum.

Problem: I can't change the brightness in UT on either video card. The bar works, but nothing changes. I have tried the v2 3dfx ref drivers, and they don't work with my card. I have tried the newest nvidia ref drivers and still have the same problem. Also, UT and WoT crash when I try to exit the game when running in glide.

any ideas?
