I have UT on my PC and I recently bought Unreal and I noticed on the Unreal Mission Pack: Return to Na Pali box, that you can play it if you ONLY own UT.
So, basically,i am asking if i can use the UT engine to run Unreal, jsut make it that much cooler looking ^_^

:) No.. The mission pack can only be played with Unreal as for UT you can play some of the old Unreal maps or even use some of the monsters or characters in the game, but no I am afraid not..

Ah, I THOUGHT so!

So, does that mean it is possible to play the original Unreal "missions" on the UT engine?
becasue as far as I know, the Unreal mission pack doens't update teh game angine at all.

^_^

There is a way to get UT to play Unreal - you can even get it to put Unreal menus on the menu bar - but it won't work with Na Pali.

I can elabourate if necessary.

Actually UT contains everything from U with the excetion of levels and music.
Look round in the editor. Pretty easy to find unreal models, weapons, sounds, ect...

Ok... first, copy the Unreal music to the UT music folder and the Unreal maps to the UT maps folder.

At the UT console (start UT normally):

open vortex2.unr?game=unrealshare.singleplayer

UT will open Vortex Rikers and you will be playing in Unreal single player mode. Then, if you press escape, you will find that the UT front end is running Unreal's menus including load game and save game.

You may experience sound feedback problems - if so go to advanced options and switch off "Reverb" under Audio.

If you're happy with playing Unreal that way then you can unistall Unreal (leaving the Unreal maps and music in yr UT folder) to save on hard disk space.

Hi,

This is my first post here...

Okay, this is way too cool. I followed the instructions, and there it is... Riker's! The only problem I have is that I can't get to the Unreal options menu (well, I can, but only after I die), only the UT one (and it doesn't have game save options). Is there a way around this? If not, can I just autosave? Gee, what are those autosave and load keys again? :)

Thanks,
lynx

Hellscrag:

Hi, sorry... I meant the Unreal menus. I can't save games or anything. When I press ESC I get the UT menus. Any ideas? Thanks again for the tip... this is very cool... :)

Oh, BTW - is there a way to make a Windows shortcut that runs Unreal from UT?

Thanks,
Lynx
