well, from what i hear battletop nyc was a disaster, some people got screwed out of even playing, and otherwise it wasn't done very well. after going to the canadian battletop tourney last week i'm starting to wonder what the future holds for ut in the sense of professional gaming.
for those who weren't aware of the canadian tourney.. i went to it about a week ago, in toronto. mostly quakers (very loud and obnoxious) and the ut schedules got switched around more than they should have, even causing one player to miss them altogether after the time was changed without notifying him. still, i did enjoy my short stay there and props go out to the xeno clan for working on the event and the opportunity to meet a few fellow ut'ers.. although i get the feeling that it was more like a q3 event with ut being squished in where it fit.
here's a thread detailing what went down in nyc today. i feel especially badly for overtoad, who spent a few hundred bucks for a plane ticket from texas to new york only to find out that he wouldn't even be able to play.

hopefully as the tourneys continue, the organization of such events will improve and ut players won't be herded in alongside the q3 people like we're second class or something.
this kind of stuff shouldn't happen in a professional setting, and i think everybody should be aware of this (whether you have aspirations of going pro or not) and let it be known that it can't be tolerated.
