UT 2005

I just recall Epic was planning to release UT200X every year, just like those sport games.

Since the release would be due around chrismas it might be an upcoming option. Or did the abandon those plans?

Does anyone know anything about improvements? When did they release the SDK in the past?

The SDK ships with the game. Actually not even sure I would call it an SDK but everything you need is there. For moddling they ship Maya PLE which pretty well do everything you need, except I believe texture baking. Water marks appear in shaded mode and when you render but that is not really an issue for most things since when you eport out to Unreal it works perfect.

UnrealEd ships with it and has all the tools for importing, exporting and such. For those that use 3DMax or a different version of Maya the plugin in is right on the UDN site and works like a charm.

As for the scripting its very easy to export all the scripts out or you can download them from UDN.

Although there are plans to ship every year I am not sure if that will happen. It would probably be an expansion pack for 2005 then a new version for 2006. This fall though they are shipping a bonus pack out with the winning entroes from their million dollar contest. Probably some extra bonus material for it. For those that bought 2004 already though you will be able to get the new material as a free download.

Edit: If they do plan to ship something else in 2005 don;t expect it until summer or fall.

There won't be a UT2k5 or 6. The next Unreal title is Unreal Championship 2 for XBox.

BUT, Epic will release "UT2k4: Editor Choice" (in stores and downloadable for free) a sort of GOTY edition with models and maps as well as mods.

That is some impressive stuff. I checked out the Unreal Technology site and looked at the previews for the Unreal 3 engine. very interesting stuff. Hopefully not another Doom 3 PC killer at the time of it's release ... They seem adament about keeping it running smoothly with the PCs of 2006.

Unreal 3 for the cqb and ut2004 for the big maps. Makes sense to me ut2005 would just piss me off and I'd stop playing like the people who bought 2003 and quit.

Yep that is me. Pissed me off about the UT2k3 and the UT2K4. I will get UT2k4 but I am just waiting a bit. :/

UT2k4 is miles ahead of UT2003. If I could go back, I'd not buy 2003 and just buy 2004. I highly suggest it.
