I guess I do not understand how you feel that way. Is it because you dislike the results of the election? Didn't like the choices? Would you rather live in a dictatorship where voting isn't an issue? I know it is said that a picture can tell a story of a thousand words, but in this case the story is, "Dog stands on spinning turntable."

The turntable is the man and he is making us (the dog) dizzy with spellbinding tunes.

The way I see it, we keep voting in new blood until these yahoos get the message they are sent to Washington to serve the American people and not their own selfish interests. My guess is it will take a few rinse and repeat cycles, but eventually common sense will prevail.

Jerry Brown is Governor again! That means the Dead Kennedys are relevant again!

I see you've been working on your smug. it's coming along nicely.

you know exactly what I'm getting at.
American politics is a revolving door based on short attention spans and no patience. we chase our tails around every decade, but nothing ever really changes for the better; save for a handful of social movements (civil rights, etc). the results of this election cycle were entirely predictable, something that (in large part) is directly attributed to the pendulum logic that most voters operate on. this is thanks to our immature, stifled, and unrealistic political system.

it's not about being displeased with individual results.
it's not about being displeased with the choice of candidates.
and no, I wouldn't rather live under a dictatorship.

it's about pragmatism and compromise. I'd rather live under a system of government where our politics can be more than A or B, black or white, right or wrong, patriotic or socialist. this sh*t is f*cking ridiculous, it's not representative of our nation nor does it reflect the attitudes of regular citizens. it breeds spite, contempt, and arrogance which in turn severely cripples our ability to solve the most pressing matters of the time. no one seems to know how to disagree without being disagreeable.

such a heavily polarizing political atmosphere causes people to invest more concern in the short-term horse race of politics rather than in the long-term consequences of failing to find the middle ground on important issues. so do your gloating while you can. Democrats had their moment 2 years ago but it obviously didn't do the country any favors. it just reinforces the Us versus Them mentality that has been so pervasive and so destructive to our national discourse and legislative process.

Well, when you have a country so diverse in its cultural, racial/ethnic, religious, social and political backgrounds, you are going to end up pretty close to where we currently are. I mean, we already have 2, 4 and 6 year terms in our government. These terms are set this way for a reason, so that no one person or party can have control for very long. While your cynicism for the system is understandable and shared by many of us, this is the best type of overall political system in the world. Taking into account mass population and numerous levels of government, coupled with our diversity, I think we are doing better than you want to give us credit for. do serious issues exist that we need to overcome as a nation? Sure, but it isn't the end.

There are many nations where the citizens cannot openly dissent with governmental policies. I, for one, am glad we have the freedom and fortitude to debate issues when we disagree with each other and/or our government.
