UnrealEd.. wtf?

I bought Unreal a few days ago and it says
on the box it comes with the editor but I
cannot find it, on my computer or the cd.
I searched for unrealed.exe. I have the
latest patch installed.

does anyone know where i might obtain the
editor? i REALLY want to start making some
levels and playing around with the editor

It seems like ages ago that I installed Unreal...but let me try to help. I think mine automatically created a shortcut in the Unreal folder in the Start menu. If your copy did not, then check the Unreal/System folder for a U shaped icon that says Unrealed. If for some *crazy* reason you still don't see it....explore your cd and you'll definitely find it there.

i'd already done that
no sign of unrealed.exe on my hard drive or
unreal cd, plus no icons in start menu
although there was an unrealed.ico file

i didn't get the manual with unreal either
although it did come in .pdf format on the
cd (no mention of this anywhere, i found it
myself) the .pdf looks like a scan of the
manual, anyway it says you will be asked
components when installing. it then listed
5 of them, i only had 3 available

When you install the game you can I think you can choose custom installation or something like that - then you can mark or unmark stuff that you wanna have installed. I believe the Editor-option is there som try uninstall Unreal and then install it again - and remember to check Unreal Editor.

And on the CD, well the file is in a subdirectory called system but I don't think It will work to just copy the file to your hd. Try the installation procedure instead!!

thanks everyone for trying to help, but i am
telling you, it is not on the cd unrealed
wasn't an option

i need to find a place to download it or get
it from. it didn't come with the cd (for
whatever weird reason)

Here's the link to the UnrealEd Experimental Patch#4 which contains the editor. I found it a http://www.dukeed.com in the Downloads section. Check it out if you're looking for other Unreal patches, too.

Apparently, the version of Unreal that came with Voodoo3 cards had no Editor on it, either.
