Does anyone know what version the dreamcast was?

I'm trying to find this version in hope to set up another server, as the master server is still alive and online.

And before some useless troll posts something around the line's I should just give up because the server will not be anywhere near good enough where it needs to be.

Check out www.daglgaming.com ... my friend is lending me a bf1942 server, and he said he would like to try out hosting servers for some console games.

So, does anyone know how to host a server? Where? And what version the DC UT is? thanks.

I'm pretty sure that all of the dreamcast servers were hosted by Sega back then. I have no idea if the server software was ever released.

Hmm...I wonder how we can get a server up and running. I found out the DC version is v436 too...So does anyone have any idea's?

Maybe someone has the correct server software to host them? Or has contact with someone who might?

Now..There must be some way of programming a DC server, so it will work. Is there anyway Beyond Unreal would enjoy starting a project to get a DC server running? The master server is still online.

There are still people who would play, people such as DC-Talk, OnlineConsoles, DCArena, and possibly DC-Scene.

These communites still have servers for q3a DC.

Also, if the DC version is on v436, maybe we can host a 436 server, but change the port the the dreamcast versions' port?

But, I have no idea what that port would be, can someone please help, thanks!

I've contacted Epic about it.

I doubt that the version on the Dreamcast is the same as v436 on the PC is. They would have needed to make several changes to the codebase in order to get the game operating on the Dreamcast hardware, along with the changes to the network stuff.

Ask arround this site: http://dreamcast.onlineconsoles.com They could get you some answers.

You would have better luck running a Q3A server; it is very easy to get a DC-compatible Q3A server up. Quake 3 was made to be compatible with PC, while UT was not.

UT would be quite a bit harder. The Dreamcast version is VERY different than the PC one, so you would need to have access to the software that SEGA/GameSpy used to host the servers.

If you do somehow manage to get a UT server going, you could count me in! Just note that the only mutators on the DC are the stock ones. Also, the master server listing would never work. Users would need to join your server directly with the IP, which you CAN do. (Just start a practice match, hit Tab, and type in open IP:port. I've never had a sever ip to test this on, but I do know that DC UT DOES support this command.)

EDIT: Look into contacting GameSpy. They helped host many Dreamcast games.
