Unreal Tournament: Domination

I'm currently looking for volunteers to help with a new mod known as "Unreal Tournament: Domination". I won't say much about what it is yet, but just so you might get interested, here's a little rundown;

Unreal Tournament: Domination will try and bring back the glory of the original Unreal Tournament to UT2k4.

If you're wondering what I myself will be doing, I'm going to be a mapper, for the most part, but I'm also going to be the concept/idea guy. If you want to discuss the mod, check out it's forum post on my forums; Click here. Also, feel free to check out the rest of the forums, if you want.


Also, on a side note, I'd prefer you be skilled in whatever field you choose. I can admit to being a newbie mapper (but I'm still working on it), but I'm also the concept/idea guy, and will be keeping the project inline. But if it helps, at all, I'd prefer to do a little of everything, but for some reason, UScript doesn't like me. ;)

Heh, mapping is a big part of the mod. Lots of work to be done with it.

I didn't send you an email, instead, I sent a PM. Go ahead and read it over, it's got plenty of details. But remember, it's more or less the concept, and that could change over time. Getting a team together is all about bending and morphing the original concept into something bigger and better, and that's what I want to do over the course of time, while still keeping the original goal of the concept.

Well, looks like it's gonna take a while before you can get started then.
I won't be available for the next month, after that.. well, I dunno.
I've got this thing against recreating someone else's map. Further more, even now, lots of UT maps are already being rebuild, or are even done...
Look, ehm.. send me a message halfway through may, or if you got any big news. I could keep an eye open for rebuilds if you want, but I'm not in for taking maps and rebuild em. Sorry.. If you need anything else for your team that involves mapping, I'll be glad to help, or modeling or skinning for that matter. But once again, I've gotta hurry with my maps now, or I'm gonna miss the deadline for Phase 3. So I'll guess I'll hear from you soon. Please do keep in touch though.

Well, it's not all rebuilt maps. Actually, we don't have to rebuild any, perhaps just a few of the most popular ones (or a favorite). For the most part, I just want to restore the grittiness that the original UT maps produced.

I also have a few new game types that would need maps, so there is a lot more that just map restoration on the list of things to do. I do realize your point. Perhaps a variation of the original map.

Anyway, yeah, I'll be sure to PM you if I can manage to get this project off the ground.

Sounds good.

But, I've also come up with other ideas. Rather than simply copying all of the older UT models and skins, I've decided to come up with new stuff. I do want to reintroduce Metal Guard, though, I liked Metal Guard.

As for weaponry, I'd still like to remake the weaponry, with a few additions.

Now, my opinion doesn't really count, but it seems like a huge waste of time to re-make all of this content for the sheer act of playing oldskool domination. This would be a good 5 minute gametype (if you actually played domination in UT), but your shooting more for complete utter rebuild of UT.

Well, my last post kind of said it's more free in that aspect.

By the way, it wasn't at ALL about Domination, that wasn't even in the original thought. Domination came in while I was thinking of other game types.

Not to be a bitter ol' sod, but why not just get the Classic Domination mod that's already out for UT2K3? :rolleyes:

Or just wait till the next phase of MSU which means the mod will be also made for UT2K4.

[Edit] Hang on, I hadn't read about the other enhancements before...
