Unreal gold hosting problem

Alright so me and my friend both have unreal gold and my server shows up and he can join and everything but once he gets past connecting to my ip its about to load then it says "package unreal1 version mismatch"
how can i fix this? He got unreal from the anthology pack and installed Gold(we both have same ESC menu) so i know we both have gold.

Yep, though the error doesnt unable online playing, it just causes a mismatch. Which means an Anthology user cannot enter any non Anthology server. Vice versa the same thing an Anthology server cannot be joined by any non Anthology player.

Regardless if you play with Anthology(being a client) or run a server with it. You need to patch it to make it compatible with all other servers and clients.
