Does the Steam version have any problems with the enhanced textures, or anything else?

I'm about ready for another playthrough on the campaign but somehow my old "day of release" copy has gone missing, which really pisses me off
This seems like a good time/price to retrieve a new copy.

Out of the box, yes, it has. But all you have to do is copy the Unreal Gold directory from your steamapps folder and like, update with 227 for example.

You can update it with 227 right in the Steam folder.

Brizz... and the game will downgrade to 226 once you launch Steam. You need to disable the community options and auto-update for it to work inside Steam folder.

I never had it downgrade. The only time it did that was when I did a Verify game cache in Steam on it. Otherwise it was 227 the whole time.

I just realized I was thinking of UT when I referred to the enhanced textures (duh).
So, I guess that wouldn't be an issue after all, unless Unreal had them and I don't remember/never used them.
