I am under the assumption that UScript will not be changing drastically or the way mods are made won't be changing much before Unreal2's release so, I'm beginning work on a mod for Unreal 2 now. By doing so the mod should be ready for release by the time Unreal 2 is released.
The mod is called Starship Troopers:Mobile Infantry. I have spent the last three months developing this idea and finally I decided that there is no way in hell that UT handle you having 16+ bots to command and versing 100+ enemies. So I figure if unreal 2 is going to be so awesome with super high quality stuff, imagine how many things you could cram in if it were UT or Unreal 1 quality. Most preliminary concept art is finished and I am currently generating sounds and writing music.
I can't go into much detail here so you'll have to wait untill I finish the site in about a week. The main features will be improved bot control(Like Quake3's bot control bred with UT's). You will not always be in command and you may have to take orders. There will be limb severance like in Aliens vs. Predator. You will bleed and will be able to bandage yourself and others. Pain will also be an issue causing you to suffer increased recoil shakiness when aiming, etc., etc. There will be several new bugs added and several other bugs that we will not tell you about and you'll have to encounter on your own. There will also be a fairly diverse line of weaponry available and it will be classed based but you'll be able to carry one weapon which doesn't pretain to your class.
Right now I am in need of people to help with:
Coding
Modeling/Animating
Texture creation
Skin Creation
2 SFX Artists(You'll have to be VERY VERY GOOD)
1 other Music Artist(You'll have to be VERY VERY GOOD)
