Hiya folks.. follwoing my request for info on DSL I was pointed to NTL by [INForcers]Monkey_Hanger..heres the skinny...


These options are the ones where you dont have to get the full-on cable package.. just the broadband..straight form the horses mouth (well, the website).

"hi-speed packages up to 512 Kbps
option 2
Pay a monthly subscription of £29.98 or £34.98 (depending if you buy or rent* the cable modem) which includes the rental of a telephone line*** + subscription to our Hi-Speed broadband Internet service.


entry level packages up to 64 Kbps

option 2
Pay a monthly subscription of £14.99 which includes the rental of a telephone line + subscription to our entry-level broadband Internet service*.

For both levels of service there are other options that we can tailor to meet your needs, these can be discussed further when you order the service.
All options are flat rate charges with no additional Internet call costs.

There will be an additional charge of £25 for the installation of the wiring required for the service. Customers must not attempt any part of the installation of wiring themselves, as it may have a detrimental effect on their service and others' in their area.
All services are subject to regional availability.

All prices quoted are inclusive of VAT.

* Subject to a 12 month minimum contract, the cable modem remains the property of ntl and no equipment upgrade is available under this offer. Price per month applies to Direct Debit payment. If you choose to pay by another method, an additional £2 administration fee will be charged each month.

So if you get the CM package you have to get a phone with them as well. But thats around the same as what you pay BT anyway.

In that package you get the BASIC Digital TV package with that installation (£25 i think it cost). I've got a friend who recently got the Digi TV and the CM and they fitted the CM as part of the package. The packages are a bit confusing to read, but i can guarentee that i was paying £10 a month not £15 for the 64k and that included rental of the CM also.

I was also told when i got mine connected that i can cancel whenever i want. In fact im still paying for the 64k service, but dont tell anyone.

*Jammy get.. NTL STILL want to dig up my tarmaced drive (which I share with a neighbour..) so I'm gonna see what he thinks about it.. could bemore trouble than its worth..
OpenWorld is actually quite competetively priced compared to some providers.. anyway gotta get my PC fixed first, then its back to 56k for the time being..

AFAIK you get a choice when you goto NTL.

You can get a phone and the basic TV package

or

You can get a phone and a second line.

All for the basic cost.

But seeing as they run the CM off the TV cable i dont know what you'd do. I'd prefer Sky Digital anyday to NTL.
