UE3 - UT3 UE3 --> widget/gizmo detached from brush

Hey guys...

i've been pulling my hair out for a few hours now. Basicallythe widget / gizmo (whatever you wanna call it) has detached itself from the builder brush and i can't move brushes. Whenever i drag it just takes pivot point! I saw an earlier post about something similar (solution was to click the cursor icon) but have tried that and failed miserably...

Any ideas?

The top tool bar there are 6 little buttons to the left of the little window that says world or local in it.
These buttons change what you can do with the widget.
The one that has a little arrow on it control the locking of the brush so all you can move is the widget and not the brush if this arrow button is pushed in.
Try clicking it to un push it.

One week to learn how to edit with this editor or any editor is going to be well very hard to do.

Have you gone thru the tutorials that came with the collectors edition.
If not that would be a good start.

Hey guys thanks for the tips...

First off. I've tried playing around with the 6 buttons and the world / local settings...no joy! I've set them to exactly the same in a fresh level and it's absolutley fine.

Virgo....where can i get the properties window? Right clicking on the builder brush gives me nothing and i can't see 'properties' on menu when i right click in space!

This is really doing my head in! ... Is there an easy way to copy everything out of my level and into a fresh one? Luckily I havent started any kizmet sequences yet!

In terms of 1 week to learn, i'm a pretty fast learner... I had 3 days to grey block out a level in Maya for my current project and my 3d skills were horrible b4 that. Also used previous UE's so just catching up on whats changed! ;-)

Press F4, not all objects have properties.

This is really doing my head in! ... Is there an easy way to copy everything out of my level and into a fresh one? Luckily I havent started any kizmet sequences yet!

You can select stuff with Alt+Ctrl+Left mouse and drag, then copy+paste to new level, though i`m not sure that it will fix the problem.

I don't know of any other way to lock the builder brush other than the buttons on the top menu. This doesn't mean there isn't a way I just don't know it.

But you can lock a built brush under actor properties
with the built brush selected press f4 or goto view then actor properties then look and see if bLockLocation under the advance tab is checked if so un-check it

Sure, that was what I meant. :) F4 is the right key. For better selection in perspective view, switch to wireframe mode. Or in lit/unlit be sure you have nothing selected, then press ctrl+shift+left mouse button on the brush - it will select the brush - not only the surface. Then press F4.

K, still no fix for this :-(

The strange thing is i get the following

Move builder brush (e.g. the red one) - gizmo moves but nothing else
Move light - gizmo moves but nothing else
Move existing additive brush - Moves fine ---> No issue.
Move static mesh ---> No issue!

This is really annoying me!

Oh great...now whenever i right click on the box / cone / cylinder brush maker i get a properties window thats blank!

P.S Does anyone know if the Xbox 360 version of UT3 will have the same options as PS3 with regards to allowing created maps?

Don't know if you have worked out what happend but the "B" button is a short cut to hide the udk builder brush =P 3 years late but oh yell :D
