I have been here in MD for almost 2 weeks and there is SOOO much stuff to do.. clubs, bars, pool halls, all of these different types of "alternative" stores.. organic food stores.. cool clothing shops.. just plain fun.. but back home in Charlotte NC, there is nothing that different from anything else.. Charlotte is the smallest town that I have ever lived in, and they (peeps that live in Char.) seem to think that Charlotte is the SH!T.. when compared to others.. it really is just a step above Mayberry RFD..

so the QUESTION is...

What makes your State so special.. and what about the town that you live in as well?? and what just plain ol' makes it dumb as well..

North Carolina.. pretty much great weather year round.. a bid thing here is driving to the mountains in the fall beacuse the leaves change and it is kinda nice..peeps here are nice to each other most of the time...

Charlotte.. banks everywhere...the Panthers and the Hornets (Hornets are probably leaving next year or 2 YEAH!!!).. had more players in trouble with the law at one time than any other NBA/NFL at one time..

and the silly part...
the Charlotte Knights... AAA baseball.. actually play across the state line in SOUTH Carolina

Buffalo, NY - besides the nation's worst superbowl record and chicken wings, it has a lot going for it. Tons of history and culture, and the best food I've found almost anywhere.

On the down side, a crap economy and the "town that thinks it's a city" thing you mentioned.

Washington. Namely the EASTERN part which is totally different than the western (Seattle) side. (No, it doesn't rain all the time here)

We got 4 true seasons. Mountains all over the place for skiing, snowboarding and hiking. Lots of game to hunt. Tons of lakes to go to and rip up the water with your boat or PWC. I'm not into night life, but I heard it does suck around here. But the outdoor activities are the best around.

And I hear france has something similar too...
And Great Britain, now I guess you could say something about GB... I mean, what do you call Scotland or Ireland, which seek (and have) a limited independance?
I dunno about Wales tho... :p

I live near Pickens, South Carolina. It's a very small town - not much to do. I guess you'd say it's a lot like Mayberry RFD.

I prefer hanging out in Clemson, which is a college town, or in Greenville, which is about the size of Charlotte, NC I guess.

The neat thing about Greenville is its main street. They've really done a great job renovating main street over the past few years: lots of trees, cafes, shops, etc. It sorta has a European flavor to it, or so I've been told.

In upstate SC, we're only half-an-hour away from the mountains. There's some pretty good hiking trails. And we've got Lake Jocassee and Lake Keowee. We're also just four or five hours away from the ocean, so I can get in some surfing a couple times a year. And we try to get down to Charleston (one of my favorite places) at least once a year. I really like the coastal areas of SC - the people are more laid-back down there.
