I'm not convinced about the present version of the radar- it shows enemies a bit too readily. I'd rather it showed your teamates along with the members of the enemy team they've eyeballed. At the moment, the radar seems to screw up enemy ambushes.

One other point - 'If you prick us do we not bleed.' If you shoot someone and they run away, why isn't there a blood trail. It was quite nifty when tactical ops incorporated it.

Olethros made a radar, i forget its name, but it was a great radar. Only showed enemies on your forward axis, which got narrower as you increased radar scan distance. Only showed enemies who were moving or standing.

But the best thing about it was, the small rabbits, birds and fishies that are present in some maps actually showed up on the radar.

I always thought of it as a satellite IR relayed to your HUD when I'm playing me vs. bots matches. It's an interesting way of evening up massive differences/skill.

As far as radars in FPS go, I think AvP did it best with the motion tracker. Doors, falling things, machinery and harmless animals all showed up and really added to the suspense. Not that I'd suggest that was added to INF, just that I thought it was cool :)

Actually, the light amplification in that game was also top notch: not like most "realistic" fps where the screen goes green and up a few brightness notches, it had nearly blinding effects with vaguely strong lights, very nice.

A little offtopic but I agree with you. AvP was the most scary and exciting single player experience I had (at least until DOOM 3... need to upgrade before continuing on that)
