The power of PHP...

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

I've noticed that the NaliCity database is faster and the search functions are more efficient, all thanks to whoever implemented the db in php code (as opposed to the older slower asp's). I just wanted to congratulate the NaliCity staff on a job well done. Keep up the work people. :)

An especial thumbs up to Yoda, Fuzz, and Luq, who I am quite sure are hard @ work this very moment.

**looks at watch**

Ok, maybe not.

There was a time when I wanted to review for NaliCity. *waxes nostalgic*

Unfortunately, Fuzzbuster was so overworked that he never got around to processing my request. It entered the great dustbin of teh email servers. :(

awake? hrm, what?

oh we're up. and working on things :D

...and believe it or not I still have the reviewer-submissions.

The database is a LOT cleaner than it was, so author searches should turn up more maps as well, WAY more than it used to. ;) :D

Stuff's quick now, eh? Wait'll you see the new new stuff coming soon, if you think THIS is fast....

That's teh thing about dustbins: they almost never get emptied. :D

Well, I've been in college since then, and hadn't had much time to goof off. One good thing is that my computer science classes are making code more and more accessible to me. It used to be that reading anything besides English would make my head burst. I look forward to playing around with uScript, and possibly authoring some goodies in the near future. :)

And, when we get the maps served in a fast, reliable server, things should be way better than they were back in the PU days !

Here is a clip of some e-mail exchange I have had with the site administrators (posting this to releaf the pain of waiting):

Heya Varpu,

| After having a short conversation with Mika, I came into impression that
| mirroring the NC map files would be of no problem. I also understood that

That's great news! The euro-NC community will be ecstatic to hear of a
mirror their side of the ocean, and likewise, I'd bet the eDome visitors
will love having thousands of map files at their fingertips.

| both the server bandwidth and the number of simultaneous users (1000)
would
| be more than enough. Disk space is of no issue ..... and I think this also
| applies to the future Unreal2 custom maps.

That's great news as well! We often come across fans who want to help, but
simply don't have the resources available to sustain even one full-speed
download. I just tried downloading the RocketArena patch from your servers,
and received a full 400KB/second steady! No download accelerators, just pure
high speed gaming goodness. That's awesome, my friends! :)
