The Official Ra286 Server is back up and running courtesy of the +Band of Brothers+ Clan!

Look for it in your INf web browser as the +BB+ clan server running Ra286, ReportDirection,INFGPS,DTAS,RandomTeamSpawn, and upon request the old fav, Rav2.

the server is passworded, but keep yer eyes peeled for hints as to what IT is

Welcome back. Hopefully the passowords doesn't keep people out. Maybe you could put the passwork in the name of the server as well, so browsers can see it.

Speaking of passwords, why can't you guys just out and say it. Why the big secret?

Once you get the server up and everything settled, could you post this in the server line-up thread within the online discussion thread. It would be nice if that thread was up to date with all the servers and their info. Thanks.

As I understand the agreement with the host it is in the contract that A) The password can not be part of the server name and B) You are not allowed to post the password publicly. The cost of a passworded server is much cheaper than a public one.

Thanks for the server Bush, guys and dolls. One minor request. Dog Town please. If you don't mind. No rush. Having a hardware problem so I doubt I will be playing for a bit.

In IMHO posting this here is fine, although of course I am not and admin. Not all that many people check the annoucements or online sections.

the SAS mappacks i think were converted by jaymian, and you can DL them @ combatmaps.de {hopefully they have thier file host probs sorted out by now}.
If not, never fear guys, all the maps will be hosted by us when SW gets around to finishing up our host site thingo hes been {hopefully} diligently working on

The server seems to be on crack. It keeps reloading the same map every second, and you can't select new maps or anything. I also recomment taking the SAS maps off. They are an insane download unless you already have them. For one map, it's not really worth it.

There are way too many camos to download, and I couldnt find deviation on either realmaps or combatmaps. I checked my browser and there were 5 people on tonight and by the time I had even begun to find any of the files to play the server was dead. Try to keep it simple so those of us who havent played in a while can jump in and join the game. Or maybe offer fast downloads from the server, would make bigger games possible without discouraging people from downloading so much.

Why are fast downloads disabled from RA servers anyway?

Sterno, I know what you mean. Same bitch I always had. However, all camos, with the exception of I think the Stormtrooper camo, are linked via NoFate's page:

He spells out what you need and links to the FOOL camos. Takes about 5 minutes to download and install all of them, a lot quicker than downloading them from the server anyway.

Duke's post has a link to download the latest version of ra286, which also downloads and installs ten times faster than downloading from the server. Once installed, you can use it as a mutator for offline play anyway.

Besides the fact that we have been emailing recongamer due to some exceptional ping problems lately. Hopefully, it will be resolved soon.............

Well decided to jump on BB tonight. Got DTAS missmatch. No problem. Went to rename from my system directory. Not there. Very odd. Checked my cache just incase. Not there either. Did a complete search of my unreal directory. Nowhere to be found.

Still get mismatch. Very strange.

So what am I missing?

A mismatch can only be caused by a conflicting file, I think. My Cache index is often not updated even when I have downloaded something. If you really wanna get on BB, I'd go into your cache and delete anything that's about 20 kb in size. Even if it isn't DTAS, it'll still be a quick dl off of any server.
