Ok,

I'm starting a separate thread because the original question I posed to FMI (in the FAQ?) has so far gone unanswered.

Simply Put:
Will you give us the ability to use custom crosshairs? That maus and kaus pack already have some great x-hairs...

Will you create usable crosshairs or at least give us the option of using theoriginal U2XMP?

Right now, the crosshairs bleed into the maps (brown sniper xhair, brown map texture, etc etc.)

I would play more, but it feels like playing with "x-hair hidden"

Regards,

i would enjoy the normal UT2004 crosshairs... i love my triad and i hate the color crap... simple white works best for my eyes!

To be perfectly honest, I won't be playing XMP again unless at least the xmp xhairs are reimported without mipmaps
That's one of the major factors in the "bleeding" into the background, especially for players using low details(like me)

And it's good to see people knowing about my xhair pack :)

holy **** - you made that pack? It's got some unbelievable good crosshairs (halo > *)

omfg - ty for version 7 - it lets me give people with less .ini editing clue good crosshairs.

In a First Person Shooter, the crosshair should never be the same color as the map.

Which they aught to be able to do. I'm fairly certain that EvilEngine was able to get the AR and Dispersion Pistol xhairs from U2 ported when he redid the weapons for his U2 Skaarj model pack. I don't recall if they animated like the original U2 ones though (to give an indication of targeting an enemy)

I loved the sniper zoom hud. The weird characters around the outside were a nice touch I thought.

:D
(and before anyone asks, he's not talking about Halo the game, he's talking about the big-ass circle you have to scale down in my pack)

You're telling me...
This is a lot easier than trying to bastardize them into the Ini(pre-3204)

Exact reason why I do that black/white mix, it's unlikely to blend in with any part of the map

So, have you seen the Aimbo one yet? :D

I've just had a look at the screenshots of your xhair pack, and they do look good. Maybe you should have a chat with the FMI guys about using some of them for UTXMP?

Quoted from the 'UT:XMP Bug Fixes' thread...
Support for custom crosshairs as in UT2004 (except for RocketLauncher)
so xhair support is in \o/

i'm a download that xhair pack now to see what its like. The picture of all the cross hairs does have some good ones on it :)

aimbo is funny. but not as funny as me upgrading to k-aus in the middle of a LAN 1v1 tournament and getting the Grey "k-aus weapon systems" metal/book looking plaque as my lightning crosshair (i played the match out and won - just had to use LG at close range and shock at long range).

i use a different one for each weapon; halo, the xhair, small and purple is the best shock xhair i've ever used.

Some of the xhairs could use a beefing up so that they scale smaller (a couple of the circle/dot combos, specifically, could use some extra line-weight). Right now if you go small with (i wish i rememebered the names offhand) the lines get very thin/faint.

If you would like, I can beef up those lines and send you name.small versions of those?

I do like the idea of offering those xhairs as part of xmp, however, provided the original authors get credit!

regards,
chu

Can you provide a link to that thread? what is the timeline for them implementing the changes?

As soon as I get visible crosshairs, I'm playing this beast.

Yea, I noticed the "bleeding effect" after I switched all the xhairs to DXT3 from RGB8
Some I've kicked back to RGB, others I've left at DXT

As for tweaking beefed up versions, you may proceed

Also, I do have an idea in the works for a custom pack designed just for XMP, but it could take a few days since I don't have the needed items installed
