as some of you may know I've to make social work the next year(I already bitched about that in IRC)
I chose a place were I would get a lot of free days(instead of holiday, but that was fine for me), I only would have to cook and clean the flats of a disabled person
I called them(the organisation who managed all the jazz) and went to their office
I may be a bit picky, but I can't stand persons who look in 2 directions at once, you never know in which eye you've to look
apparantly god knew that and the guy I spoke to looked in 2 directions at once and looked like a caricature of a muppet
we spoke about stuff and I tried to stay centered at atleast one eye, difficult task, but I managed it
I got a phone number of a disabled guy, so I called him the same evening but didn't got him, luckily he called back, sounded very nice on the phone and I visited him to introduce myself
when I met him he wasn't so cool anymore
that was maybe one of the most creepy moments in my life: I was sitting there, the guy to my left, another disabled guy to my right and 2 social workers and very much silence, I tried to enter a discussion and made commentaries, I spoke with the guys more than with the guy I would have to take care of
well, it was a very creepy situation, especially because he wasn't very keen on me
I've to say something about myself, maybe it could explain why he didn't want me to be around: I've got hair to my shoulders, a cap, look like another alternative guy and I'm ugly
maybe he thought that an alternative kinda guy isn't capable of managing a household, well, guess what ****nut, when my mother has to work I do all that stuff like cleaning, cooking and all the jazz I would have to do, I didn't chose that place for no reason
another reason could be, that he wanted someone who brings chicks with him, just to be around them, that would be very sad and I can be happy to at least have the chance to get laid :D
I called the muppet again to say it would be ok(I wanted a place pretty fast), he called me back: no go, he doesn't want me to cook and clean at his flat
muppet asked me if I could come to them again in that week, I told him I couldn't(I had to go to my grandparents and I enjoy being at their place, because you never know how much time you've got left with them), so he gave me a date... in 2 weeks, I thought "WTF? why not next week?!"
everytime I called him he made stupid assumptions and intended that it was the wrong job for me, like I said, that **** seemed to think I would have chose it as a joke and to dance and swallow air filled with happiness and dinosaurs all day long
well, I danced to them AGAIN and luckily muppet was occupied all the time and I spoke to the secretary, she was pretty neat, we had a nice talk and she seemed to really help me, ofcourse muppet interrupted one time to make his stupid assumtions
we made a date to introduce myself to another disabled person
I went to her and she was a slow minded woman, because she has a terrible disease, I had a hard time there
I spoke with her 1 hour... 1 FRICKING HOUR! mostly about animals, it was another creepy situation, but it was ok
I called the muppet again and said it would be ok for me to manage her household, he told me he got no message of her so far, so he would call me again...till end of next week
the week passed and I didn't hear anything, so I called today again to find out that I've to get a new place, because they're full and they didn't want me
the muppet can be lucky that the nice secretary was on the phone, if not I would have yelled at that **** for wasting my time

well, the whole fun took me about 2 months
most of the time were waiting for dates to come or try to reach the muppet, because he was never there and I don't like to talk on answering machines, because if I call, I want the answer right now and not some time later

well, now I've got 8 days(!) to get a place or someone will get me a ****ty place I don't want to go to

when I was at their office I met a guy, which already got his place and the type they were looking for:
good looking, but a ****ing *****, I told a little cruel story, everybody I know laughed about it, but he only said:"oh, that's terrible", such a wannabe mature kinda guy, I can't stand such guys
too licked and too concerned about what other people think
to be grown up doesn't mean to **** girls and to laugh out of embarrassment(never saw this guys who aren't funny at all, but laugh, because other expect them to laugh)
but such yuppie will never learn it

yeah, I'm pretty pissed off, because I wasted so much time on that and couldn't enjoy the time(well, I'm not pissed off about that point: I'm mad! I wanted to have it behind me and to have a problemless-soul, thanks you ****s!)
but I feel relieved at the same time, because I don't have to hang out at such creepy places

I'll probably try to get a place at a mentally disabled-school, because I'm good with difficult persons and have much patience(well, not if I have to wait 2 months!)

if muppet or anyone finds that: try to sue me for voicing my opinion in the internets and to write alot of *s

    leave comments here plz \/

    posting in a drunk thread.

maybe you should cut your hair if you want to get a job that isn't at a record store or a coffee shop.

I woun't have to(atleast not yet), because nearly everyone who makes the social year instead of army has long hair and I'll study after the social year on an university and I woun't stick out with my look

though I probably sticked out at the place I wanted to work, because all were licked doughbags there and muppet didn't seem to like guys with edges

    oh nos! he rejected you!!!

Be happy that he did that. I think these two months you've waited were better invested than my 5 weeks atthe army. Btw. you could try to do the same as me and get out of bund/zivi in ~5 weeks without ever hearing from them again. Though I think that community service is a pretty good thing to do.

to do drugs woun't get me out and I can't get back to them and say:"come on guys, how bout you make me T3 after all this time and after I already made the work of writing a 1 1/2 sites of justification(twice, I had to make a new one, because they said I copied it from someone else) why I don't want to enter the army and after I spend 2+ months trying to get a social job"
    I don't think I can and I don't want to
I want to do social work for sometime, because I've got enough of school for now and if I would leave like you, I would stand in front of nothing: no place in university, no job and it would be a wasted year :)

I am doing social work right now. I'm working at a geriatric hospital/living quarter(or so).
My pay is as good as any community worker and better than what you get at the army.
No job? You're ****ing kidding or did I never speak about my upcoming apprenticeship this august?

Ha! I copy/pasted my rejection letter from three sources :)

Hunting for a place a bit sooner than two months would have been a good idea maybe. You know how slow bureaucracy works

Why don't you have a haircut? 9 months is enough to grow them back, but in the meantime you might make a better impression on some people (not that hair should be important in the first place). When you are in, it's hard to kick you out without a good reason.

Otherwise there is still the army ;)
My ex-co-worker is a lazy bum there. Being sick and getting knee operations paid by the state

yeah, I already thought about it a month ago, but then I thought:"ah whatever, it will work out fine and I'll get the job"
yeah, I'm an idiot, but that doesn't stop me from bitching 'bout others :)
I don't have a haircut, because I like myself more with long hair, though I'm thinking 'bout cutting my hair again(but then I'll look like 18 again: 1cm hair :D)
I don't think my hair should effect the impression people get of me, I always try to be nice and stuff and it works(especially with older women ;))
next time I'll avoid a christian institution :)

no, but last time I saw you online was a bit unlucky, because I was busy with a girlfriend(for no avail)

no business of the whole forum :D
I know that and I expect it, but not in the area where I tried to get a job
if I wanted to become a bank employee I would have cut my hair and stuff, but for a social job where I clean toilet in a flat and cook pasta it shouldn't be important

If you keep your hair nice and clean, you'll receive quite a few compliments :) Tying it back at interviews also helps with an employer's overall opinion of you.

tying it back sounds like a good idea :)
(gonna try it in the next interview)
though it drifted away from the main reason
I don't think my hair was the problem, the problem was that people didn't thought that I was capable of doing something, which I did often enough in my life(like managing a household, I did that in the past and I could do it again)
hm... now I think of it, the reason could be my look
I just don't look like the yuppie, who has everything in his hands and who has got the target to get rich very fast
I don't want to become a rich fatso, I want to become a happy fatso :)
another example of people misjudging someone because of his looks, instead of asking

well, now I can understand it a bit better(thanks folks), but I'm still pissed off, because the muppet stalled everything, wasn't cooperative and didn't hold promises(I thought he would inform me about things, but I had to call him everytime to get information about every little ****)
they(muppet and the disabled persons) could have said:"well, I don't think you're the right for the job", I would have said: ok, sucks to be you and would have had more time to search for something new

What you can also do is persue at least 2 possibilities at once. Don't rely on just one place, which could then turn out to be unvailable.

Even if you have two oks, you can always cancel one. Unless you sign something it's not binding after all

Try cutting your hair on the sides and letting it grow only on the back. It's easier to maintain this way and appears far neater. I used to have my hair so long that it touched the bottom of my back but it was hell to comb it and stuff so I know what I'm talking about.

This kind of reminds me of the people we get who come to my work to do community service because they were sentenced to a certain amount of hours by the judge or because they're too cheap to pay off their traffic or parking tickets. They come in and act like everyone in the agency should drop everything they're doing because they have these hours to complete and they want to get them all done immediately of course.

I'm sorry dude, but your whole approach to this sounds totally rediculous to me. When you don't really want to do a job, people can sense that, and that's why you're not being offered these positions. Hell, you describe yourself as patient and tolerant and yet you managed to immediately determine that both disabled people you went to visit were creepy in a single meeting and that the social worker who was trying to help you was a muppet.

If you really want to get one of these positions then you need to make a little freakin' effort. Maybe you're a little too young to have learned this yet, but they don't give you the job just because you made the effort to show up for the interview. It's not school, it's a job and they don't have to take you just because you managed to put your pants on in the morning.

Well, someone had exactly the same thought as me. Well, I was thinking "Supermullet!" but it's close enough.
