Am I the only person who thinks a team wearing desert or black-op uniforms in a snow environment, or vice versa, would be suicide?

I appreciate the fact that teams must be designated by uniform, but having snow uniforms in an urban level, or urban uniforms in a desert level is not very realistic at all, and provides the other team with a possible advantage. For one thing, they might be easier to spot, and another, their opponents might have skins that blend in.

Perhaps there could be two types of desert/jungle/snow/urban skins? Or, when a person joins the game, they can pick one of two choices for their team skin, while the other team gets the other two skins to pic from.

For example, team A gets Desert and Urban skins, and one would assume that depending on the level, the players would generally pick the skin that blended in.

Meanwhile, team B would be able to pick the Snow and Jungle uniforms, which would give them the ability to pick the *best-fitting* skin available. Perhaps neither Snow nor Jungle would be appropriate, but if they were in a dark urban setting the jungle would fit in a lot better than Snow.

Who knows, this idea might blow, but I'm just asking for some way to give both teams a fair start. If seals and rabbits were brown/gray during the winter, polar bears would decimate them. If panthers were white instead of black, their prey would see them coming a mile away.

The army of every super-power in the world does not have one uniform. They have various uniforms they pick from, depending on where they will be stationed and expect combat.

At the very least, please make red and blue (the two main colours teams are most likely to be) black/blue and jungle, so at least in either environment they won't be so easy to spot. Also realize that there are hardly any desert levels, while I have yet to see a snow level (other than Overlord, but dark camos would fit better).

Thank you for your time.

Ya i brought up this before, and someone before me i think as well. It would just be too hard if you wanted to snipe, cause everyone would look the same. I suggested armbands, though the same would still apply. I can imagine there would be other ways(team radar?), but they probably wont go thru.

Here's an idea...

Using the cool new soldier model coming in 2.8, how about making the helmet reflect the team color? The rest of the uniform should fit the map environment, as you would find in real situations. It would look like U.N. troops for instance, w/ their regular fatigues and that distinctive light-blue helmet. The darkness of the color could be adjusted to strike the right balance, such that the helmets would be easy to distinguish, helping avoid friendly fire, yet not so conspicuous that an enemy would see you coming from a mile away.

If future models come out (as I'm sure they will), give them head gear of some kind (e.g. cap, beret, etc) that can be team-colored as well.

For the INF team's consideration...

Thanks Neo /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Can you tell me how it works?

Lets say I'm on team A and you're on team B, and we just start a new level. How will the skins work so that both teams are using the same skins but different variants?

Reality Bites??

Not to be picky or anything, but you (almost)always nag about that you go for realism.

Where in real life is it easy to dist#¤%(read separate) one soldier from another at say 100m away???

Some say that "If you run. You only die tired". Well not in INF(But you are gonna turn Red and Blue, and do an Irish Dance /infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ).

Well, the fact is current 1st-person shooters like UT/INF suffer from limitations in communications and situational awareness that you don't see in real life. So I figure there should be some compensation for that fact, otherwise friendly fire becomes a much bigger problem than would be realistic.

Just my opinion...

this??

Did you mean this, Neo?

"On the right of the window will be your 3D character representation from which you can choose your model and skin, based on what the server has set for the game mode or you have set for your botmatch"

Does this mean I'll be able to pick my skin much like I could in CS? Or what?
