    What is the general feeling on the Serellan LLC Takedown progect that got funded by Kickstart recently?

    Game has been fun in multiplayer with voip.

    Game is very vanilla.

    No longevity at all.

    I was extremely disappointed. The game feels like a really bare-bones UT3 mod. OK environment art, but no interesting gameplay at all and absolutely horrendous AI.

    Are there any professional reviews of Takedown done by the milsim community? I would like to read how this title relates to things like:
    - advanced squad AI
    - realistic 3d iron sights and weapon mechanics
    - no hud
    - bullet penetration
    - realistic wound system
    - prone mode, leaning etc.

    So in essence all those elements that milsim enthusiasts look for in such a title.

    None of this is in the game, or is not properly implemented. Only thing I like about the mechanics is actually firing on semi auto and that you neutralize tangos with few shots.

    The one thing I like about Takedown is the way weapons settle back near the original position after recoiling. This is something few games reflect (even Infiltration) - instead the weapon freezes in mid-air at the peak of recoil, forcing you to wrestly it back down unnaturally.

    To be fair, I think the iron sights and barrier penetration work OK. Their weapon collision system is serviceable even.

    What doesn't work ok is just about everything else. My biggest pet peeves are:

    1) buggy arcade movement mechanics, where W+A, W+D, etc makes you go twice as fast as just holding W, A, S, or D individually. The result is that your speed constantly jerks up and down as you traverse a room, because diagonal movement is necessary to keep your view on objects (especially without freelook)

    2) Scope mechanics ripped from the vanilla Unreal sniper rifle - rather than using modern 3D sights, a crosshair decal just appears on your face while the camera zooms in to the appropriate magnification...like the auto focus on a handicam.

    What really sealed the deal was just the shitty connectivity. My girlfriend and I tried to do coop through both LAN and the internet and could not get connected for the life of us. Perhaps after weeks of router trouble-shooting we might have got it working, but why bother, when other games connect fine without the extra effort?

    The robotic Ravenshield-era AI didn't help either. It's an area where Vegas actually raised the bar, against all odds.

    Looking at the videos the mechanics seem clunky. GB really seems the gold standard for getting look and feel right.

    We redbeards need to stick together
