The Flak Cannon
This will be a fully opinionated (and often full of BS) spiel on how and when to use the flak cannon as well as counter measures that killers can use against this beastly weapon. (Its long too
Name: Flak Cannon
Primary Fire: Shards of extremely hot metal
Secondary Fire: “Grenade” of metal that explodes on contact
Range: Point Blank (PB), Short, Medium
Area of Effect: Cone shaped spread, *Deflects off of hard surfaces
Type: Spread/Impact weapon
Tactics

Use the surfaces around you. If your opponent isn’t against one, use your weapon to herd them against a surface. Hitting the primary fire off of a surface and into an opponent gives you the greatest chance of hitting him/her with all the shards; curved surfaces being the best.

Do not fire while standing perpendicular to a flat surface. Turn to the side.

Do not fire straight ahead while climbing stairs, aim upwards towards your opponents head/chest, this will prevent suicides.

When out in the open, use the secondary fire more often then the primary. Better use of ammo and better chance of killing someone quickly. The quicker you kill, the quicker you win.

Though it may not seem like it, the Flak Cannon has a very long reload time compared to the other weapons. Experienced players can kill you off quickly so practice your aim.

If you have invisibility and the flak do not just spam people with the weapon, it gives your location away and takes too long to kill with. Ride the person’s a s s you want to kill and let lose a single deadly primary shot.

Countermeasures

In close quarters, it’s hard to counter except with a flak cannon of your own. However the environment is your best friend. Lead the flakker to some stairs; given that he/she is not an efficient killer, a suicide may be on the way.

Sometimes the best tactic is to get some breathing room, regroup and destroy the flakker; use your environment. Good players realize you don’t have to finish every fight, if you’re in a losing battle with a flakker, it’s very difficult to flee. Use your environment to its best, jump off a ledge, grab a lift, but get away and tackle the flakker on your own terms.

As noted above in the Tactics section, the flak cannon has a long reload time. After the first shot hits me I can launch a secondary shock, and then combo it when they hit their second volley into me. Also this is one reason that the minigun (see below) is such an effective tool to kill flakkers off with.

Use an impact weapon: secondary fire on shock, rocket launcher or secondary fire on the ripper and knock them towards walls. This often allows you to escape to get health or a more open area to fight in. It also has a chance (and the more practice the better chance) of causing them to suicide.

The minigun has turned into my best defense against spamming flakkers. It prevents them from jumping around(as long as you hit them with it
as well as making their screen flash red constantly, this often creates confusion and, as long as you keep the secondary fire trained on their face, usually drops them very quickly.

All in all the flak cannon may or may not be a newbie weapon. That isn’t the topic here today. I hope some of these tips come in handy. And I hope this topic brings out other more skilled players to present their tactics. Sorry for such a long post.
