One thread that ask about "what had Opti done anyway" was closed.
All attacks and opinions about the mappers issue are deleted.

I also notice a lot of regulars are not there now...
Or have stop posting in General it seems.
I can't even find the Asian Prince Thread. :p
Other than the absences of some regulars, it's pretty peaceful if you were to see it from the spectator's point of view.

Okay, back on topic

After taking the time to read this long ass post, I feel I should add to it. I too used to be a fan of SF. I remember their 1.27 release and the old infopop forums. But, then Opti began to bother me. It was never anything personal, but I don't like the idea of him asking for money multiple times. I remember last christmas, he asked the community for money for him and his family. Now, don't get me wrong, its not that I don't mind people helping him, but that just sort of bugged me. Then he asked for money for his church, then his "support" thread. If you contradict him, your thread is gone. I don't know, I hope that in the end all things will work out. Remember, "Smooth seas doth not a good sailor make." I hate to see such an accompished mod like SF collapse from the inside out. Welcome all of you SF defectors, and good luck. :)

Well, since Mason, Hand of Darkness, Phatcat, Zundfolge, Keiichi, and Prophetus were so kind to point out to me, I agreed to a user agreement when I signed up. I was quick to realise that I was completely stupid and I was a terrible monster and should pray for death, but thankfully they granted me the right to join in their parroting of "even though we preach free speech publically, on private property its a different thing and wholeheartedly discouraged" rhetoric.

Registration to this forum is free! We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. If you agree to the terms, please press the Agree button at the end of the page. Note: By pressing the button you declare that you are over the age of 13. If you are 13 or under, please use this registration form.

Although the administrators and moderators of MGOForum will attempt to keep all objectionable messages off this forum, it is impossible for us to review all messages. All messages express the views of the author, and neither the owners of MGOForum or Jelsoft Enterprises Limited (developers of vBulletin) will be held responsible for the content of any message.

By clicking the Agree button, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise violative of any laws.

The owners of MGOForum have the right to remove, edit, move or close any thread for any reason.

Because such a stunning and blinding victory against me has turned my mind to a mushy, pulp like substance, I'll just copy and paste what they said to me. You can freely substitute the names as they apply.

Hand of Darkness:

Notice that last paragraph. Let me repeat it, highlighting the main points, just in case you didn't get it the second time:

quote:
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The owners of PlanetUnreal Forums have the RIGHT TO REMOVE, EDIT, MOVE OR CLOSE ANY THREAD, POST, OR USER FOR ANY REASON. The PlanetUnreal Forums IS NOT A PUBLIC FORUM, and is privately owned, operated, and maintained. If you have been banned by an administrator, you may not access this forum via any other means. Failure to comply with this agreement may result in termination of your ISP account.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So unfortunately for you, Bad.Mojo, you don't have a leg to stand on. You agreed to the terms. You don't like it, tough ****.

Obviously this place is nowhere near the condition of the SF forums, as this thread (and several others which could be construed as going against the mods/admins) has not been deleted or closed, and you have not been reprimanded in any way. Consider yourself lucky. There is respect for the members of this community on these forums.

Thankfully, HAND OF DARKNESS WAS WRONG AND I PRAISE GOD FOR IT! EXACTLY NINE MINUTES BEFORE HAND OF DARKNESS POSTED THIS, PROPHETUS INFORMED ME THAT THE ENTIRE BMA WOULD BE BANNED AT HIS DISCRETION! PRAISE THE LORD FOR SHOWING ME THE WAY! BURN THE HERETICS WHO CRY OUT FOR FREE SPEECH!

And from Zundfolge:
As long as you don't violate those rules (which you have implied that you have no intention of doing so) then the point is moot.

BUT ITS OKAY ZUNDFOLGE! PROPHETUS HAS PROMISED TO BAN ME FOR BREAKING NO RULES, JUST LIKE ON THE STRIKEFORCE PRIVATE FORU-- word does not compute * oxymoron alert * warning: rewrite -- PRIVATE MESSAGE POSTING DIGITAL BINARY HARDDRIVES THAT BELONG TO AN ELITE, EXCLUSIVE OLIGARCHY WITH THE POWER TO DELETE OR LOCK ANY THREAD OR BAN ANY USER FOR ANY USER SO SAYS THE USER AGREEMENT!

And from Mason:
while registering, you agree to abide by the rules that the host has in place. THAT is the final word, period, end of story, whether it is called a forum, message board, 'bob'(all of this was said earlier) is irrelevant, the bottom line is that when you clicked that 'I agree' button, you agreed to follow the terms set forth by those who are hosting these forums. Perhaps it IS hypocritical to call these 'forums', THAT I can agree with, but it is so insignificant that it isn't even worth the bother. You can argue these points until you are blue in the face, but once again, you AGREED to the terms that were in place when you registered for these forums. YOU LOSE!

And Phatcat:
never thought of it that way

you did agree to the fourm guidelines when you registered.

PRAISE THE LORD JESUS CHRIST!

And from this thread...
from Keiichi:
The fact that he deleted both threads after displaying such wanton disrespect only serves to add insult to injury.

BUT KEIICHI? AREN'T THOSE FORUMS HIS PROPERTY? WHEN THE MAPPERS AND USERS REGISTERED, THEY GAVE HIM THE RIGHT TO DELETE, LOCK OR MOVE ANY OF THEIR POSTS, AS WELL AS BAN THEM!

from Phatcat:
as I was saying in the development thread, there should be like union or some'n

UNION?! WHAT ABOUT THE WAVE? A UNION MAPPERS WILL PRODUCE NAZIS! PLEASE TELL ME YOU WERE JUST TESTING THEM, PHATCAT!

<size="1">quote:

The powerful forces of group pressure that pervaded many historic movements such as Nazism are recreated in the classroom when history teacher Burt Ross introduces a "new" system to his students. And before long "The Wave," with its rules of "strength through discipline, community, and action, " sweeps from the classroom through the entire school. And as most of the students...

from Mason:
Very unfortunate that Opti feels the need to do this. Even more unfortunate that he is alienating many who had supported him in the past. I personally lost my taste for the SF forums when 1) I got flamed continually when I made intelligent posts, and 2) when Opti started on his religious crusade a few months ago--y'know, the 'sticky' asking for donations and then the 'sticky' offering 'support'. All this while deleting any posts that opposed his viewpoint. Looking back, this whole development doesn't seem as much of a surprise, does it? Perhaps most of the mappers were atheists who wouldn't convert?

YOU SIGNED THE AGREEMENT! CHRIST ON A CRUTCH! YOU AGREED TO THIS... wait... aren't you the one who said this to me when I was bitching about the moderators here? something's not righ-- FREE SPEECH SUCKS! I AM A ZEALOT FOR PRIVATE PROPERTY! YOU SIGNED THAT AGREEMENT!

from Phatcat again:
*cough*ass-hole*cough*

THEY AGREED TO THE AGREEMENT THAT MADE THEM AGREE TO AGREEING TO THE TERMS OF SERVICE AND ... you already said this to me though. Something's not right... ARGHGAGHG RAWR!!!

from Mason again:
since all of their posts are apparently being deleted over on the SF forums..something that has never(as far as I know) happened here.

THEY AGREED TO THEIR AGREEMENT OF AGREEING TO BE ON THE FORUMS OF AGREEMENT AND CONTRACTUAL OBLIGATION AND ... wait... posts have been locked and deleted here, and users have been banned... God, something is soooo wro-- RAWWWWWWWWWWR!

UngGAHAGHAHGhaHAGAHhghAHGhHAgh!!!

Senses... returning. Mildly disoriented... hypocrites... got the best of me... still MUST CRUSADE... ung. But for free speech this time... Oooooh, my head hurts.

Black Jesus sez: Free speech is an important right. Despite end user agreements, one should always crusade for their beliefs. Remember, just because you agreed to something does not mean it is wrong to voice your dissent. Your right to speak your mind freely is what truly keeps us out of tyranny. Though they may compare this agreement to laws in your country, do not listen to them. Indeed, if your country said that they made the laws and they will not ever change, and if you voiced your dissent at them and were silenced through any means, this would be tyranny. An agreement as such is no less. Protect your rights today, fight for what you believe in.

While we all must fear the machinations of the wicked, no evil should be so feared as the indifference of good men.

Thanks Black Jesus!

I've noticed a tendancy for this thread to get rather silly.

Anyway, some of you might remember me as the main Pro-SF'er right after 1.60 came out (though I've been silent since then).

While I think that Opti is an *******, that won't affect my love for SF itself. I usually try to look past an individual and focus on the product (except for Metallica. They blew it with the Napster crusade, but that's OT). I've always liked SF over INF, but I've always been hesitant to join in with the SF community, mostly because I saw this kind of crap in the SF community coming a long time ago... Call it a hunch.

Anyway, I don't feel like ranting about this much, as it's 3am. Good night.

..My response: see my post in the 'Mojo for Moderator' thread. Damn, man, now you're resorting to posting the SAME thing in two different threads. Reaching..that's all I have to say right now.

The diffrence between a mapping union, and your BMA, people would acctually be helped. and not play little games on a "private" fourm.

I can see someone making a group to further a mappers ablity to become better, and help them get mapping position in the game community (in a mod or as a job). but a group to "save" the fourms is kinna... I don't know. Jr. High-ish

My thoughts exactly PhatCat. :D

There's no point in whining about free speech on a private forum.

just to play devil's advocate...

fo·rum (fôrm, fr-)
n. pl. fo·rums, also fo·ra (fôr, fr)

1. A. The public square or marketplace of an ancient Roman city that was the assembly place for judicial activity and public business.
B. A public meeting place for open discussion.
C. A medium of open discussion or voicing of ideas, such as a newspaper or a radio or television program.
2. A public meeting or presentation involving a discussion usually among experts and often including audience participation.

Judging the definition, I'd agree with Mojo that free speech should be held with high regard in any place considered to be a forum... a message board, on the other hand, could be privately "owned", IMHO; so I'd have no problem with "censorship" (/exercising propery rights) there.

..and if you think of forums as a 'medium' for open discussion or voicing ideas-like a newspaper or TV, then the forum rules STILL hold up. You can't print just ANYTHING in the paper, and television has broadcasting rules in place to maintain some semblance of order. The PU forums fit very nicely into this category, thank you, so with this being the case..the term 'forum' with regards to the PU and the Inf 'messageboards' is applicable. Mojo, by your own argument, the term 'forum' CAN be accurately applied to these messageboards..it just depends upon WHICH specific definition you choose to go by. :D

Also, If you look in the upper left corner of your browser you will see the words "Infiltration Message Board". Mojo loses his whole semantic footing in that light. I am sure he will conveniently not notice though. Ever since I hit the ignore link on him the enjoyability factor on this forum has skyrocketed. DO YOU HEAR THAT MOJO? I AM CENSORING YOU, MWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I AM TEH EVOL CENSOR!!!
