Strange site design idea.

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

Should WoD go forum based?

While browsing Tribes mods recently, I ran across a mod that decided to take a rather interesting approach to site design. The whole damn site was centered around the forums. The news was posted on a forum, the documentation was posted on the forum... the whole deal... despite the fact there was not a load of eye candy, the design really really worked for me I was wondering what you guys would think if WoD went forum based.
check out the mod's site here: http://planettribes.com/rpg/

Don't worry, I would still be using fileplanet for downloads. I would still be uploading images & such to the normal WoD directory. I would not be using attachments. Don't worry.

hmm. depends on how you integrate it. i would imagine it would be good for news (a small locked forum, set to display the last X days) then another that has locked thread starting for tuts, then people can reply... yeah, i see the ups, but it would be really restricting in what you could do with the site itself. i suggest you cook the site up, but in a seperate dir, then let us test it out, find the weak points, and see if its feasable.

certain pages would stay HTMLed definitely... not sure which ones though. Probably downloads & other static info that wouldn't change.

On the other hand, tutorials, news & reviews would be forum based (& backed up on my harddrive)

WoD has recieved an invite to move house to BU. I may try this out when and if we move.

hmmmm..... I am now sure that reviews are going to become forum based.... that way people can post their thoughts & rank the mods on a scale of 1-10.... I will use the User Reviews Forum for this.... I need to set up a basic system for the initial review though... see my upcoming post in that forum for potential details...
