I started an urban map a while ago, stopped working on it, and now started continuing it again. the textures seen here are PlutonicUrban and ctf_urban. (mostly plutonicurban).

this map is a mere 20% done or so and is taking me a very long time to complete. i've never attempted an urban style map before.

first two pics are outside, while the last one is underground at the subway (will having moving trains taking you to the other base)

2nd pic

is there a easy way to add the other part of the semi-truck. i have the trailer looking good (the wheels are there, just no lighting yet), i need a prefab and textures for the diesel truck (i can make the prefab myself if i had the textures)

Vast improvements over the last one we saw!

Avoid cubic buildings...i don't like the elevator in the last pic ( is it one?) I'd prefer stairs in a semi-realistic/urban map.

For the trailer, see if you can gank the tractor trailer from the TO packages. Or atleast the skin so you can make your own in max or something.

I like the softer grayer feel a lot, much better than that brown metallic feel of UTtech's.

the area is more compact than it looks, so i had to go with the elevators for the time being. i may change it later though. ill also try and get the TO files. im on a 56k, but that may change in a week or so, i may go cable (tried dsl, but im not within the service area)

i totally deleted the "above ground" area and am redoing it (cause i know from experience that the "old way" can only lead to framerate issues and bsp disasters). actually i also practically deleted the whole subway system and made the geo a lot more simple, i will put an echo in the tunnels if i can with fog also. a small sewer system will be installed in this city leading to all four bases (will be ctf and ctfm)

tell me if this is a bad idea, but im thinking about totally doing away with the "cityscape" background and going with a more mountainous one. i just really can't stand that citytextures that came with the game.

--------------------------------------------------------------

on another note, i downloaded ctf-frogger and laughed my ass off! the cars going by makes me wonder how anyone can pass them to get the other base, much less return with the flag. the framerate problem in that map doesn't have to exist. i checked it in ued, he followed none of the rules to better framerates.

frogger..

yeah..ghandi can put out maps faster than anyone I know. they might not look nice; but they're usually a lot of fun. on that map, most flag carriers take one of the hovercars/use the bridge/swim across the map..I've never seen a FC cross the freeway..hehe.

anyways..gl on the new proj stoneviper; i'm sure it'll kick ass.

those lighboxes are way too hard btw in pic 3
the lights i pretty much slapped lights in there, and fixed it up in photoshop before pasting here. the lighting (colors especially) will change. if you look at the map in ued (at that time), there was sloppy light placement just to see the buildings. the final one i don't think will take place at night at all. i may do it in the daytime.

(refering to lightboxes) sometimes you never know what is wrong until someone else tells you it. your definitally right, i may totally delete them, thanks for pointing that out
