Still have an $1100 doorstop...

We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

So yeah, still can't get my new computer up and going, after having it together for nearly a month now. Install Windows Vista no problems, but as soon as I install the drivers for my EVGA Nvidia GeForce 8800 GT, and I get a blank screen where the login screen should be.

I've looked up online, and it seems there's numerous problems with geforce cards and the blank screen, but very few solutions. And so far none that work or that I can figure out how to do.

I haven`t tried any of the newest VCs, so I`m shooting in the dark here, but doesn`t VISTA have Nvidia drivers included?? Will it game without installing the VC drivers and just running VISTA? And when installing, which drivers are you using? The ones on the VC install CD? Or the latest from the website?

It has drivers for the nForce 780i motherboard, but not the video cards. I called EVGA and the guy suggested I download the drivers online, as they're more up to date. Gotta do that yet, but seeing they're 40 megs and I'm on 56k, that'll take a while. Going to a friend's house tomorrow to download them.

Plus I went with Vista because I couldn't find a service pack 2 disk, and my friend has been using Vista for a month or so and he hasn't had any problems. So I figure what the heck.

After installing VISTA and before installing the VC drivers, can you update the VC drivers from the control panel? Tell it to go on-line and search for updated drivers and see what happens when it loads whatever drivers it finds.

Downloaded the drivers from EVGA and they work like a charm. So my new computer is no longer a doorstop. :)

Now I just got to get everything all transferred over... :hmm:
