In honor of the day, a slew of Steam games have been updated with... potatoes. Check your games list for affected games. In keeping with the U-Engine theme we have going here at BU, I'll point out that Killing Floor and The Ball have Happy #PotatoFoolsDay updates.

What's new? Well that's up to you to find out. For a hint regarding The Ball, check out the screen to the right...

Aside from a one-day only gag, the Potato Sack deal looks real good for that many indie games for about $39... :)

(If I can get Steam working that is...)

Ok I need a little clarification. I have googled these so called "ARG's" and have even found the wiki on it, but never any info as to what it actually means. Is this a coy way of saying that Portal 2 will have something to do with potatos instead of cakes? Is Glados going to have a weakness to spuds?

It's an alternate reality game which in this case is basically a puzzle/cryptography hunt akin to the MIT Mystery Hunt. A similar event happened last year when they patched Portal 1 with the radio transmissions (the audio files contained images hidden via stenography) and extended ending.

There is some possibility that potatoes factor into Portal 2 since the leaked achievement list had a potato reference in it. As for the ARG itself, there's really not much related to potatoes currently. It was an innocuous theme to base a 4/1 gag around. However, People didn't realize there was an ARG going on until they found the glyphs in the games.

With the way things are ramping up I wouldn't be surprised if this culminates with tonight's release of the Portal 2 comic.
