In the current version, I don't car much for how sprinting is accomplished. I
don't like having one bind for jogging and another for sprinting. I'd much rather
have it done the AA way and the 2.86 way. In AA, one can double tap and hold
the forward key to go into a sprint, much like dodging in regular UT. There is
also an option to bind a key to sprint, as it is done in 2.9, and I'd like to have
the option to hold down the jog key to start sprinting, as it was done in 2.86.
I'd really much rather use my current sprint key for a chat bind in a conviniant
location.

Personally I find the new way quite good. In the earlier version I had hell of a time to try to get to sprintmode online, now that is no issue anymore. I'm sure some bind wizard can come up with something that could help you out.

I don't sorta like the new system. The only thing I wish for is that when I release the sprint button it goes back to the mode I was before. Walk - Sprint - Walk, or Jog - Sprint - Jog.

Getting used to it but not ideal.

just think about it ben... if you stop sprinting in RL you would not automatically walk right on the spot... in INF you do one or two extra 'steps' and then remain in jog mode. What is so hard to hit the walk key then again?

Else you would need to remember what you were doing before you had to hit the sprint key to ie get out of a hot situation. Now you know... it will always end up on the jog... no matter what. Much easier to get used to cause you definetly know at all times what mode you end up in after you stopped sprinting.

The extra key was added to avoid any type of problem online due to lag or whatever that would not recognize your double tapping for example. So a seperate key is the cleanest and easiest way to do it. It doesn't affect the general walk/jog key that is available while prone and crouching too to switch between a 'faster' and a 'slower' prone crawl or crouch. Hitting the sprint key will get you into the sprint no matter what is needed first. Means you will stand up if prone or kneeling first and then you will start running forward. No extra key press for the direction needed, no problems with getting into the sprint mode on accident resulting in standing up while behind cover and all you wanted was to crawl a bit faster..... many bad situations can show up then. So we splitted the two functions fully.

I love this system.

Just needs getting used to because I'm used to hitting walk/jog to sprint.

Meaning, when trying to sprint out of a blast zone i walk out.

I don't like the extra keybind.....BUT, one of my biggest bitches with 2.86 (at least on my system) was that I had great difficulty toggling from the jog to the walk. I would always swear and hit it like 13 times, which would end up freezing up my keyboard or minimizing Inf.

So, I like the way it is now, it works much better.........and the only frustration I have is 4 deaths, 3 tk's and 0% accuracy :D

The two extra steps aint perfect though. When I see a nade and sprint behind cover I automaticaly turn around. It's a habbit that will probably never go away as I don't like turning my back to possible attackers. With the two extra steps I walk out of my cover again, right into the flying shrapnel...

Hadmar, you are a player for years and cannot adapt to this feature?
Well, first sprint, stop sprinting one or two steps BEFORE you reach the position you want to sprint to, then let the two steps take place and then turn around. Or sprint into a wall or other obstacle to stop you within a sec.
It's all about getting used to of course but it shouldn't be a problem for a long-time player as you are.

I much prefer the new system. You don't have the problem of switching between jog/sprint as you did with 2.86.

Can I make a suggestion? Try binding your sprint key to the middle mouse button (or scroll wheel button). I've found that this is the perfect place for it as it's extremely easy to get to in an emergency.

My middle mouse is my fire mode switch. Shift is sprint, Q is jog/walk

My problem isn't with the fact that it changed from 2.86 (I prefer the new key
over the old system), but I'd rather have a double tap, like a dodge. I was under
the impresion that keypresses such as that were logged clientside and then the
command sent to the server.

Beppo, sure I can adapt, that wasn't the point I was trying to make. :) I meant it is not perfect in the sense that your speed drags you in the direction you are running even if you want to stop which is what I assume you want to simulate with the 'extra steps'. If that is correct then it 'ain't perfect' couse you can turn 180° and your speed (could somone please tell me the correct physical term for that?) that should drag you further in the direction you were running now drags you in the direction you were comming from.

I Like the new system.

Dont you DARE change it.

I have "N" for walk/jog toggle and SHIFT for sprinty bursts.

I hate anything that uses double tap cos my fingers do that a lot without me thinking about it.

Give the player the option. It's done in vanilla UT with the ceheck for dodging,
and it was done in 286 for the option of diving into prone. give us the option to
double tap into a sprint.

AA has the bind for sprinting and it has the double tap for sprinting.

Ok getting more use to it. Just that ugly incident in Down Town when I tried to turn and run from a nade but thats my problem as usual. GOing to work well once I get my binds in order.
