Does it make a difference that:

A: He's in the guard, not regular army
B: He attended regular basic in the summer between his Junior and Senior years of highschool.

BTW I know this guy personally, and he's not full of ****. It is possible that I am working with only partial information.

National Guard is military? I thought they were just a underfunded social club with fancy uniforms and a big place called "the Armory" with no guns in it?

The guard is not the Army, the guard is the guard. I doubt he will ever get to ranger school no matter how high speed he is if he is in the guard. (Ive known people to leave for ranger school and not come back for 1/2 a year. It takes a while)

Im not going to say anything more on this subject because he is just in the guard, and not the real infantry.
