Speed hack problem in 1 computer but not the other

Hi guys, so I have two computer at home, both using wireless to connect my router. Both computer has similar hardware ability and bought at around year 2008, which is definitely far more enough than the highest requirement of ut2004. One just has speed hack problem once for few seconds in a day, but another computer would have speedhack problem like 1 time in every 2 minutes. The wireless ability should be around the same, and I use them at the same location, I check so many things but still cannot find out why, I google this top online but cannot find a solution that works. I am sure the hardware part should be good enough and two computers have very similar hardwares. Basically the problems have been long time, both windows XP have be reinstalled but the problem is just like before. I thought about could that be the graphic card ability problem, but I ran a game server in local, the speedhack problem would not happen. So it is some kind of nteworking packet problem, but I just use two computer at exactly the same place both have around 100% wireless signals, both using the IEEE 802.11g, 54 Mbit/s, both computer fast enough that don't look like it is hardware problem to create the delay. What can I do? :(

I don't quite understand under what circumstances you get this issue (instant action, listen servers, dedicated servers, internet, LAN?) and what you actually meant by "Speed hack".

I agree it sounds like a problem with the wireless. The speed hack detected thing happens when you get packetloss and you get further than what the server thinks you should be.

The only thing I can think of right now is to update the driver on the one that is having the problem or try going to an older driver. Also check pingtest.net to see that you are definitely getting packetloss.

I am using the most updated drivers, pretty sure not the driver problem. There are a lot of people discuss about the speed hack issue but most because of slow internet connection, but mine is using same internet but two computers have different outcome, one has problem while another doesn't, so it is so hard to tell what's wrong.

Problem happens when I play game in public server game, but using my lan to play a game with own server wouldn't have that problem.

So yes, that's packet loss. Enter "stat net" into your console (~) and see if it reports any packet loss.

I just try it! Yes there is packetloss! Whenever there is a very Laggy feel or spedhack, the packetloss field either In or Out has numbers!

Hey I think I can help you! I had this same problem on my XP machine. The fix that worked for me was after you connect to your wireless network, you need to disable the service called "Wireless Zero Configuration". To do this go to:

Control Panel> Performance and Maintenance> System> Services.

You will see a long list like this
t01620020123pos01_02.gif

Go ALL the way to the bottom, and you will see a service called "Wireless Zero Configuration". Right-click on it and choose "disable" What I think happens is that service keeps trying to automatically connect you to your network, which causes hitches.

One downside to this fix is that if you disconnect from your network and want to reconnect, or restart your computer, you have to back into the services section and right-click to re-enable it. But hey, its better than it screwing up your game every 2 minutes!

Hope that works!
