Sound Lagged in Unreal HELP!!!!!!!!!

Whenever I install Unreal and tehn install the 225f patch my sound is lagged about 1/2 a second. If I restart Unreal my sound is normal again but that takes time. The first item I installed Unreal and teh patch my sound worked fine. Then I unistalled it and now the sound is lagged. I have tried reinstalling many times. Anyone else have this problem.
My system specs:
233mhz k6
48MB RAM
4.0GB HDD
S3 Trio64V2/DX with 2MB Ram
Diamond Monster 3D II 8MB
24X CD ROM Drive
Someone please help me!!!!!!!
