I played UT3 at max settings and with everything turned on(except motion blur/vsync, and res is 1024x768), but it still looks not as good as screenshots I've seen. Is this how it's supposed to look like or am I missing something?

The laptop only has 2GB of RAM btw; one 2GB stick was defective, so I'm waiting for a replacement. Could it be the reason? It still doesn't lag though.

Looks fine to me. You said you had everything turned on. Do you have every thing turned to its max setting? And are you sure you're not getting the ps3 screens confused with the pc screens?

Resolution is alittle low there, if you have that maximum, you'll see what you wanted or Video Card suxxors or UT3 can't look so good that its realistic (hmm) or its fine you must confused with ps3 screens.

AA and AF will help yes. Personally I have to leave them off on my 8800 GTS as it eats the framerates severely.

AF is automatically set to 16x at Texture level 5, so turning that on is pointless. AA might also be a bad idea since it's a laptop.

But yeah, that's about how it should look. Here's a test I did on my old CPU (E6750 OCed to 3 GHz) and on a 8800 GTS 640:

It's about one of the hardest areas on the videocard/cpu in the game. But that's definitely what max looks like at 1024.

Dude, it looks far worse in here and with lag as well.

Maybe a newer laptop would help, it is because of the integrated card which has no own memory and it cannot take memory as you would wish it to and upgrading that would cost more than the laptop did ever.

you should also enable some more anti-alias

I checked the control panel. AA was set to 4x, but things look pretty jagged. Would 16x be too much for my laptop?

Try turning off Bloom and watch the colors pop onto the screen.

This is without bloom..it still looks pretty dull compared to hideinlight's.

Yeah, see how it looks with Intense Post Processing. (And Vivid)

That screenshot was taken with vivid post processing, but I don't see much change. What does it do exactly?

When you disable the "Bloom and Depth of Field" option, you will lose a lot of visual detail. I always play with it and everything else enabled and on the highest settings with Intense PP. Certain maps however, are impossible to play like this, imo. For example: Torlan, Avalanche :)eek:), Defiance, Coret, etc. The insane amount of bloom and blur make my eyes feel like they're going to implode. So, I always turn off the "Bloom and Depth of Field" option for those and other bright/blurry maps. (Dark maps like Floodgate and Diesel look great with it enabled). Having this option off disables post processing altogether so you will not see a difference between Vivid, muted, etc.

Those screenshots look a bit washed out, have you tried "Adjust desktop colour settings" in the Nvidia control panel? It could be the brightness, contrast or gamma settings.
