So you really want more polls? Fine.

  • Two Factor Authentication is now available on BeyondUnreal Forums. To configure it, visit your Profile and look for the "Two Step Verification" option on the left side. We can send codes via email (may be slower) or you can set up any TOTP Authenticator app on your phone (Authy, Google Authenticator, etc) to deliver codes. It is highly recommended that you configure this to keep your account safe.

The DVD region code... a damnable invention by rotten capitalistic pigs. It should be legally forbidden.
When I buy a DVD player, and buy a DVD, both are my property and I goddamn see it as my right to play my DVDs in my DVD player.

'nuff said.

Please explain what this is.

It is a code on every DVD and that corresponds with a certain "region" - Amerika is 1, Asia and Europe are 2, etc.

A DVD player should check for the region code and only play DVD of the same regon as the player.
That way, you can - in theory - only play DVDs of the region you live in, not import DVDs from other regions. (They cannot prevent you from importing a player as well, of course)
So I, as a German, should only be able to play European and Asian DVDs, no American DVDs.
This allows companies more control over the distribution of their products.
An unfortunate sideeffect is that if a DVD isn't distributed in your region for whatever reason, you cannot watch it.
For an American Anime fan, for example, this would mean a gret limitation of the films he can see, as no region1 version exists of many DVDs.

There are, however, various offers of code-free players or a modification via internet already, and there are software solutions for PCs.

So, sounds like this law affects more non-Americans than Americans since we produce more entertainment goods than most other countries. Therefore, since it isn't a big problem for America, it's not really a problem at all.

Sucks to be you, Claw!

P.S. Bwa-ha-ha-ha-ha!

Not really. I got DVDGenie
Plus, Europe and Japan are in the same region
We got a decent DVD industry of our own anyway. No need for importing cheap american products. "Made in Germany" is a sign of quality - What do I think when I hear "Made in USA"? Ah, yes. Microsoft

j/k :p

I don't have DVDs or a DVD player, so it doesn't affect me right now, but it still shouldn't be done.
